If you would like to preview the scripture lessons and hymns for the upcoming Sunday, you can find Sunday's bulletin uploaded to the parish website each week on Thursday afternoon. From the home page of the website, scroll down to the colorful "Worship" icon, and click on that. Then scroll to the bottom of the "Worship" page and you will see where the bulletins for Sunday have been posted under "Downloads".



New Digital Assisted Listening System

for St. Bede's Nave

Thanks to a a generous grant, we have upgraded our Nave sound system with a new digital assisted listening server. This digital server will stream the Nave audio directly to your smartphone and, from there, it can be delivered through wired headphones, Bluetooth devices, or, if you have smart phone enabled hearing aids, the audio can be streamed directly into the hearing aids. Our hope is that this system can improve speech intelligibility for any who have a difficult time hearing or understanding the spoken word in the Nave.

The FIRST STEP to use the new system is download the "ListenWIFI" app onto your smartphone by clicking on one of the links below. The app is free and does not require any type of registration or password (thank goodness!). The app will not work until you are at St. Bede's and connected to our Wi-Fi network.

The SECOND STEP is to arrive at St. Bede's and connect to the new "St. Bede's - Guest" Wi-Fi network which is an open network that requires no password (thank goodness, again!). The system will not work if you connect to the old "stbedes" password protected network.

Young Adult Fellowship

(20's - 30's)

The Young Adult Game Night was a great success! We chowed down on pizza while we set up our fall calendar. Luke introduced us to a great new game and we discovered we have some amazingly creative minds among us! Although we are still wrestling with the great existential question of whether or not a hot dog technically qualifies as a sandwich.

If you're in the 20's - 30's demographic and looking for a great church group, be sure to check out this space! We'd love to have you!

Children's formation is on summer hiatus. We invite families to worship all together during the summer and take advantage of the Pray Ground space. We look forward to resuming formation in the Autumn.

Prayer Vigil for Extra-Ordinary Times

Beginning July 6th and continuing through the summer, we’ll be holding a weekly, hour-long prayer vigil for the country, Sundays after 10 am worship, in room M108. Feel free to come by for a short time or for the entire hour.

A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.

We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.

And we will pray together.

Some questions to consider:

How are you doing, and what are you feeling?

Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?

How can we live the values of our faith

in the face of conflicting public policy?

Social Justice Advocacy Group Forming

We are a parish who believes in social justice. It is part of our baptismal covenant to care for those who are less fortunate and those who suffer.

Some of our members have been doing some social justice advocacy work. One example is marching in protest marches or attending rallies. If you would be interested in finding out when these opportunities arise, please let me know.

St. Bede's new Art from the Heart Gallery celebrated the opening of its inaugural exhibition on Saturday, August 2 with many from the local arts community in attendance. The current exhibition features original works by artists associated with the Tucker Arts Alliance and will run through Thursday, October 2. Please enjoy the gallery when you are at St. Bede's for worship or for a class or a meeting. The gallery is open on Sundays and by appointment by calling the office (770.938.9797) during regular office hours.

Marie Hurley Blair and Lynnsay met each other in the halls of their dorm in college fifty years ago and have anjoyed an enduring friendship. The is the second time Marie and Lynnsay will have the gift of collaborating to offer a Quiet Day with a focus of slowing down, noticing our breath, resting with compassion in and for our bodies and resting in the Beloved.

When Marie's husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's twenty-two years ago, she continued to work as a librarian while beginning to receive training the the teaching of yoga, studying the mind-body connection and how breathing, meditation and gentle movement can ease pain and improve mood. A 500-hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, she continues to deepen her training in yoga for chronic pain, cancer, and overall aging. Mindful yoga - moving slowly into postures and noticing how the body and breath respond - is available to all bodies. "If you can breathe, you can do yoga," Marie assures newcomers.

Marie will lead a guided loving-kindness meditation and lead an hour-long yoga practice that may be enjoyed seated or on a mat or towel. Chairs will be available. Please bring your own mat or towel if you have one.

All bodies are welcome.

ONCE AGAIN: GAS CARDS NEEDED

This fall two small groups of individuals from St. Bede's are making trips to El Refugio and Stewart Detention Center on September 13th and October 4th. Stewart Detention Center is beyond their stated capacity with detained immigrants. The families of those detainees are traveling from many states to visit their loved ones at Stewart. St. Bede's has been donating $25.00 gas cards to the families that visit. It is a small but well appreciated gift of support and love to families that have been torn apart. 

So far this year we have taken 106 $25.00 gas cards. El Refugio and all the families that spend the day or weekend there thank you for your generosity and compassion for others. Please put your gas cards (or cash donation) in the gas card box on the round table. If you opt to make a cash donation rather than supply a physical gas card, please place your cash in an envelope marked "gas card".

ESOL Volunteer Opportunities

Many of you know that our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program has been going strong since January of 2013. We started a new year on August 26th with some returning students and new ones as well.

ESOL classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and Wednesdays from 10:30 until Noon. If you have interest in learning more or participating in this amazing ministry, please talk to Orisha Parsons or Judah Sali. As we all watch the tragic events of violence escalate in Jerusalem and Palestine, it is so important to keep the people of the Holy Land in our prayers.

Invitation to Prayer Shawl Ministry



Prayer shawls are used to provide comfort, acknowledge joy or appreciation, say goodbye, or any other reason to share God’s love. They may be used in prayer, and the act of making them is prayer. Making them with friends is church.

Currently, a prayer shawl group meets one morning and one evening a month. You are invited to attend one or both meetings.

The Choirs of the Cathedral of St. Philip proudly present Choirs Uncorked! Join us as we hang up our cassocks and let our hair down to show a side of ourselves not seen on a normal Sunday morning. We will be showcasing many styles from 42^nd Street to the Met. This musical feast will also include snacks and beverages for your enjoyment. Our Silent Auction will feature fine treasures from the vaults of our community.



All proceeds from the fundraiser will help the Cathedral Choir's next pilgrimage to Canterbury and Winchester Cathedrals in 2027.

As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.

Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.

As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.

Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.

Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.
