Children's Formation for
Children Age 3 - Grade 5
Instead of Sunday School being either before or after 10 am worship, children are invited to gather together during the time of the Sermon and the Prayers of the People for a special story or activity that is tailored just for them. Children will come to worship with their families and will be invited to process out for this special time during the signing of a hymn. They will then return at the Passing of the Peace to join their families and the congregation for Communion.
All 3 year olds through 5th graders are welcome to join us. Older children are welcome as helpers and younger children may join with a parent, grandparent, or other caregiver.
If you have questions, please contact Molly Graves at mgraves@stbedes.org.

Finding Healing
for Our Divided Country
Now meeting weekly
on Monday evenings on Zoom
from 6:30 to 8 pm.
The next evening meeting is
Monday, February 17.
A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.
This group will also meet
on the first Monday afternoon
of each month on Zoom
from 1 to 2:30 pm.
The next afternoon meeting is
Monday, March 2.
We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.
And we will pray together.
Some questions to consider:
How are you doing, and what are you feeling?
Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?
How can we live the values of our faith
in the face of conflicting public policy?
Please contact Muriel Diguette at digfam@att.net
if you are interested in joining.

A Poet in the Camp:
A Lenten Journey with Etty Hillesum
Etty Hillesum was in her twenties when she volunteered to accompany her fellow Jews to a Nazi concentration camp. Fed by her spiritual practices, Etty ministered to those in need, counseled against hatred, and wrote letters expressing her deep love for God.
Though we are not in a concentration camp, we are facing unprecedented challenges and wondering whether we have the strength not just to endure but to be Christ-like. Etty assures us we can, pointing to specific practices that invite us to be “poets in the camp”—people who can offer peace, comfort, and even courage during times of great suffering.
As we turn our faces toward Jerusalem, join us as we sit with this Jewish mystic who wrote of having her body broken and given to others.
Praying with the wisdom of Etty Hillesum, scripture, poetry, the labyrinth and with a visual expression.

Mary Magdalene
Saturday, March 22, 2025
5:30—8:45 p.m.
Our next gathering will be Saturday, March 22 nd from 5:30 until 8:45 in the Parish Hall. We will eat a simple meal together and then watch the 2018 film Mary Magdalene. The film runs for one hour and 55 minutes. Rated R because of a few scenes showing the crucifixion, focusing on the way Mary Magdalene (Rooney Mara) is present and offers her compassion to Jesus (Joaquin Phoenix).
This telling of the story shows what biblical scholars have re-discovered in the last decades: that Mary was a respected disciple and companion of Jesus. Mary is so deeply drawn to God and Jesus that she finds she must follow Jesus, in spite of the prejudices of the patriarchal society in which she lives. She finds herself at the center of this transformative moment in history. This film shows us the courageous woman who risked her life and family to follow Jesus. The film is beautiful and moving. Also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Twelve Years a Slave) as Peter, and Tahar Rahim as Judas.
After we watch the film, we will have a short conversation about where we saw and heard God and Compassion in the film, and ways in which we noticed our own life stories connecting with what we have seen in the movie.
All are welcome. The suggested donation for the meal is $10.00.

New Welcome / Privacy Signs
When you arrive at St. Bede's, you will notice some new signs posted by entrance doors extending a "Welcome" but also designating our interior spaces as "private" for the purposes of unauthorized entry by law enforcement. These signs have been posted upon recommendation of the Bishop's office and other denominational authorities as a means of stating publicly the reality that we have embodied for years - that all are welcome to gather here to worship God without fear of any legal action being taken against them while in worship. These signs appear now as a result of churches and schools no longer being classified as "sensitive spaces" in regard to immigration enforcement. They do not effect access for members and those who regularly gather at St. Bede's, but they do seek to help protect those who are most vulnerable amongst us.

| St. Bede's volunteers took on the Medshare mission with vigor. A group of about ten organized, unpacked, or packed medical and personal hygiene supplies for the non-profit, which sends kits to more than 100 nations worldwide. And the St. Bede's crew over three hours Saturday morning made a solid contribution to the effort - sorting 1,519 pounds of medical goods, helping 1,307 patients. That's according to Medshare's Tonya Grant. Thanks to all who gave their time. | |
Thank You for Baby Jesus Baskets
Our House shelter sends a huge thanks to everyone for your amazing generosity and donating much needed baby items. The baskets were delivered to Our House in January with diapers, wipes, clothes, baby bottles, formula and much more, along with a mountain of diaper boxes and baby wipe boxes.
The donations in the Baby Jesus baskets help support Our House’s goals of providing essential shelter, healthcare, early childhood education, employment training, and family advocacy services.

Our Lost and Found Overfloweth!
It's time once again to clean out our Lost and Found. Do you see any items in the photo below which look familiar to you? We will run this photo for 3 weeks to allow folks time to come and claim any items from the L&F. Items still remaining after 3 weeks will be donated, so please take a look. Most of the items are in the L&F basket in the Connect Center. Coats are hanging on the coat rack. Some larger items are in the church office. Thanks, all!

As we all watch the tragic events of violence escalate in Jerusalem and Palestine, it is so important to keep the people of the Holy Land in our prayers.
In addition to our prayers, St. Bede's has also transmitted a gift of $500 to Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) for relief efforts related to the travesties of this conflict. Sadly, one of ERD's strongest and longest-standing partners in the Diocese of Jerusalem is the Al Ahli Arab Hospital - the Anglican hospital in Gaza that was severely damaged by explosion and where hundreds of people were killed. Please keep relief workers on the ground in your prayers as they attempt to offer care and relief.

Family Ministries Micropractice
Join our households with
birth through elementary aged children
in this simple intentional practice
as we bring our learning from the lectionary
into our everyday lives.
You may wish to conclude this micro-practice with this prayer:
With-Us God,
Sometimes being a human is confusing,
especially when our thoughts and feelings are a big, jumbled mess.
When deciding what to do or who to listen to feels impossible,
remind us of your life-giving love.
We can trust you.
Amen.

Friend in Christ,
As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.
Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.
As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.
Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.
Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.
Yours faithfully,
Robert W. Radtke
