Pentecost Sunday

One Bilingual Worship at 10 am

We will also be streaming our worship live

on

St. Bede's YouTube Channel

If you would like to preview the scripture lessons and hymns for the upcoming Sunday, you can find Sunday's bulletin uploaded to the parish website each week on Thursday afternoon. From the home page of the website, scroll down to the colorful "Worship" icon, and click on that. Then scroll to the bottom of the "Worship" page and you will see where the bulletins for Sunday have been posted under "Downloads".

SUNDAY, JUNE 8

Multilingual Pentecost Worship at 10 am

followed by a Pentecost Potluck Luncheon

St. Bede's will provide drinks, fried chicken,

and a vegetarian option as an entree

and all are invited to contribute a salad, side, or sweet.

If you have special dietary requirements,

please feel free to make a dish to share

that meets your special needs

or just pack a lunch and join us.

Also on Pentecost...

Do you speak another language

or can you read one phonetically?

Consider joining in reading a portion of the Lesson from the Acts of the Apostles on Pentecost. At one point in the reading of the lesson, members of the congregation will all break out into reading a portion of the lesson on multiple tongues simultaneously - as described in the lesson itself. It will sound like a cacophony of voices speaking multiple languages simultaneously - just like the Pentecost event itself. So, you don't have to be completely accurate or proficient - just willing to give it a try. Please see the link below for more instructions. Paper copies of the suggested translations will be available on the round table in the Commons on Sunday.

Please be reminded that no member of our parish staff will ever email you asking for money or gift cards. If you receive an email purporting to be from Chad or any member of our staff asking you for money or gift cards, please be alert to the scam. Always check the email address of the sender if you suspect the email may be scam.

Also, please rest assured that our church database and email accounts have not been hacked.

Summer Campers to Camp Mikell

Six St. Bede’s Youth will head to Camp Mikell (our diocesan camp near Toccoa, Georgia) this summer for fun, formation, and other life-changing adventures.

Our Youth will be supported by funds from the Ryan Hayn Memorial Scholarship Fund – a living memorial established by Ryan’s family to help support transformative experiences for the youth of our parish. Much of the need has been met for this year’s camp scholarships, but donations are always welcomed to help support other experiences such as summer camp scholarships, youth travel scholarships, youth service projects, and participation in Diocesan Youth programs such as New Beginnings and Happening. Gifts can be designated for “Ryan Hayn Scholarship Fund” or made through Realm.

Finding Healing

for Our Divided Country

Now meeting weekly

on Monday evenings on Zoom

from 6:30 to 8 pm.

In person every Thursday morning

9 to 10 am

at Mint Coffeehouse

3926 Lawrenceville Hwy in Tucker

An RSVP to Muriel for this in-person meeting is kindly requested.

A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.

We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.

And we will pray together.

Some questions to consider:

How are you doing, and what are you feeling?

Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?

How can we live the values of our faith

in the face of conflicting public policy?

Facilitators: Muriel Diguette, Molly Graves, and Miriam Needham

Please contact Muriel Diguette at digfam@att.net

if you are interested in joining.

Thank you to all who have supported our

2025 Caring for One Another Pledge Campaign!

If you have not yet made a pledge

of financial support to St. Bede's

we would love to hear from you.

If you have made a pledge

but are able to increase your pledge

to help us meet this goal,

your additional generosity

would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet(s) Summer Sundays

Trip to El Refugio

Saturday, May 17

Many, many thanks!

Once again, the St. Bede's community has come together to help our families who have loved ones at Stewart Detention Center. We set a record, not only for St. Bede's, but I am pretty sure for donors to El Refugio! We donated 61 gas cards worth $25.00 each, totalling $1525! Many thanks to each and every one of you! This past Saturday at El Refugio we were thanked over and over again by the many people who stopped by, ate a meal and took a gas card. It may seem like a small gift, but it means the world to these families whose lives have been torn apart.

On Tuesday, May 20, Networks Cooperative Ministry held a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce their hydroponic farm. They will be able to grow and harvest fresh food all year round. Volunteers are needed to help the farm work. Please click on the button below to volunteer.

You may wish to conclude this micro-practice with this prayer:

With-us-God,

You hold us together in your love.

When we feel left out or angry, divided or annoyed,

help us remember we belong to each other.

Shape our words with kindness, our hearts with compassion, and our actions with love.

Amen.

Friend in Christ,

As violence escalates in Ukraine, over one million people have already fled the country — and the borders are flooded with many more people desperate to leave.

Almost all of them are women and children who have had to seek safety on their own, leaving their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons behind.

As this crisis continues to evolve, we are working with Anglican agencies and our other partners to provide humanitarian assistance, and urgently ask for your help.

Your emergency gift today will support our immediate response, providing cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needs as this crisis unfolds.

Our faith networks are currently on the ground in the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with them in order to help those who have been displaced. Specifically, our partner ACT Alliance is helping families on the Hungarian border, and our Anglican partners are mobilizing both an immediate and long-term response in Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Yours faithfully,

Robert W. Radtke
