The Day of Pentecost

Worship in English at 10 am

Worship in Spanish at 1:30 pm

We will also be streaming our worship live

on

St. Bede's YouTube Channel

If you would like to preview the scripture lessons and hymns for the upcoming Sunday, you can find Sunday's bulletin uploaded to the parish website each week on Thursday afternoon. From the home page of the website, scroll down to the colorful "Worship" icon, and click on that. Then scroll to the bottom of the "Worship" page and you will see where the bulletins for Sunday have been posted under "Downloads".

SUNDAY, MAY 24

join us for

Multilingual Pentecost Worship at 10 am

followed by a Pentecost Potluck Luncheon

St. Bede's will provide drinks, fried chicken,

and a vegetarian option as an entree

and all are invited to contribute a salad, side, or sweet.

Even though registration for lunch has closed, please feel free to bring a side dish and join us in Parish Hall following 10:00 worship.

If you have special dietary requirements,

please feel free to make a dish to share

that meets your special needs

or just pack a lunch and join us.

Also on Pentecost...

Do you speak another language

or can you read one phonetically?

Consider joining in reading a portion of the Lesson from the Acts of the Apostles on Pentecost. At one point in the reading of the lesson, members of the congregation will all break out into reading a portion of the lesson on multiple tongues simultaneously - as described in the lesson itself. It will sound like a cacophony of voices speaking multiple languages simultaneously - just like the Pentecost event itself. So, you don't have to be completely accurate or proficient - just willing to give it a try. Please see the link below for more instructions. Hard copies of multiple translations will be available in the Commons as you enter worship.

The parish office will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

The Sunday Adult Formation Class is on hiatus for the summer.

We look forward to resuming in September after Labor Day!

Look elsewhere in E-News for ongoing formation offerings.

Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for details to come on our Youth Group Mission week Sunday, June 21st - Thursday, June 25th.

Children's Formation

for Children Age 3 - Grade 5

Changes to Children’s Formation beginning this

Easter Season

Beginning Sunday, March 12, we will have one children’s formation time between the 10 am and 1:30 pm worship services, to align with the formation time for adults and youth. We gather the kids during the fellowship time, around 11:45 am in the Commons, and then move to classroom M-102 in the Mission Wing. This formation time focuses on learning about the stories of the People of God and growing in understanding about what we do in church worship. The curriculum used is primarily Godly Play combined with lessons from other resources.

All 3 year olds through 5th graders are welcome to join us. Older children are welcome as helpers and younger children may join with a parent, grandparent, or other caregiver. Both classes are taught in English.

We need additional teachers/helpers for this age group. Please contact Molly Graves at mgraves@stbedes.org to volunteer or for more information about our children’s faith formation program.

Calling all 2026 Graduates!

We will be honoring all of our graduates and want to make sure that you are included. Please email Laura Pittman and let us know from what institution or program you are graduating and what your plans are for the future (further study, career plans, etc.) This can be a graduation from any kind of school or study program. We will list all our grads here in the E-News in the upcoming weeks.

lpittman@stbedes.org

So far, we are aware of the following graduates:

Nathaniel Pearlman, grandson of Gwen Heaton, is graduating from Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael (YOY) high school in Atlanta. He will do a gap year in Israel

(prayers needed for safety) and then start Georgia Tech.

Caroline Spires is graduating from Lakeside High School. She will spend 5 weeks in Oregon this summer in a forestry program. This fall she will return to begin her freshman year at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia where she will study forestry.

Tyler Swoope, grandson of Jeff and Jan Swoope, is graduating in Augusta from the Academy of Richmond County (oldest public high school in Georgia, chartered in 1783) and has accepted an appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He will begin Cadet Basic Training on June 24.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and their families!

“ART FROM THE HEART GALLERY”

Thanks to everyone who helped make the opening of our current show so successful! St. Bede's is gaining quite a reputation as a welcoming place! The current show will grace the walls of our Commons until June 20th. Take a few minutes to read the artist's comments and enjoy! As our plans take shape we will share information about the next show.

Finding Healing

for Our Divided Country

Now meeting weekly

on Monday evenings on Zoom

from 6:30 to 8 pm.

In person every Thursday morning

9 to 10 am

at Mint Coffeehouse

3926 Lawrenceville Hwy in Tucker

A discussion group, grounded in prayer, for those who have questions, concerns, and emotions that feel too big, and need a safe place to process with others.

We will see what participants need from this group. Perhaps it will just be a place to express what you are feeling, or maybe some will want to know what action can be taken.

And we will pray together.

Some questions to consider:

How are you doing, and what are you feeling?

Where are you in terms of processing changing public policy?

How can we live the values of our faith

in the face of conflicting public policy?

Facilitators: Muriel Diguette and Molly Graves

Please contact Muriel Diguette at digfam@att.net

if you are interested in joining.

You may wish to conclude this micro-practice with this prayer:

Spectacular God,

You are full of surprises!

May we never cease to be amazed by you.

When we encounter confusing or unexpected things,

help us be curious rather than closed off.

May we dare to wonder, “What does this mean?”

Amen.

New Digital Assisted Listening System

for St. Bede's Nave

Thanks to a a generous grant, we have upgraded our Nave sound system with a new digital assisted listening server. This digital server will stream the Nave audio directly to your smartphone and, from there, it can be delivered through wired headphones, Bluetooth devices, or, if you have smart phone enabled hearing aids, the audio can be streamed directly into the hearing aids. Our hope is that this system can improve speech intelligibility for any who have a difficult time hearing or understanding the spoken word in the Nave.

The FIRST STEP to use the new system is download the "ListenWIFI" app onto your smartphone by clicking on one of the links below. The app is free and does not require any type of registration or password (thank goodness!). The app will not work until you are at St. Bede's and connected to our Wi-Fi network.

The SECOND STEP is to arrive at St. Bede's and connect to the new "St. Bede's - Guest" Wi-Fi network which is an open network that requires no password (thank goodness, again!). The system will not work if you connect to the old "stbedes" password protected network.

Please let us know if you need help connecting!

St. Bede's Prayer List

A note about our prayer list:

We have reorganized our prayer list and are trying to make it more manageable going forward. Names will remain on the prayer list for 3 weeks unless otherwise requested. If you have placed someone on the prayer list and you would now like that person removed, please notify the office. Please request removal only for names which you have placed on the list. We are always happy to request prayer for our parishioners and our extended community.

Please contact Laura Pittman in the church office to add or remove names from the prayer list.
