FIRST FRIDAY MASS & LUNCHEON

Friday, August 5th


Please join us this Friday, August 5, for the First Friday Luncheon. For this one time, we will be in the Veranda Room next to the chapel for lunch. The First Friday Mass is at 11:30 AM in the Chapel followed by a handmade lunch in the Veranda Room. 


Be social and meet friends! There is no charge but please bring a food donation item for the Guadalupe Center. Fruits and vegetables from your own yard are also welcome. Lastly, we are looking for volunteers to help with set up, cooking, cleaning and serving food. If interested, please contact Janey at (818) 570-1144. Volunteers start at 10:30AM.

SANDWICH SUNDAY &

DIAPER COLLECTION


This Sunday, August 7, our Justice and Peace Committee will be collecting bagged meals, socks, and blankets for our Sandwich Sunday Collections for the Family Rescue Center. We are also collecting diapers to be delivered to the West Valley Food Bank. There is a greater need for larger size diapers but any size is gratefully accepted. Thank you for your support.

ST. BERNADETTE'S

RELIC VISIT



On Wednesday, August 3rd, St. John Baptist de la Salle Parish in Granada Hills, 16555 Chatsworth Street, will host the relics of St. Bernadette Soubirous, the young girl who encountered our Blessed Mother 18 times in Lourdes, France. The day-long celebration and veneration of these precious relics will be the final stop of an historic 4-month, 22-state tour of the United States. All who attend the Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience will receive a bottle of Lourdes Water, touch an actual piece of Lourdes Grotto, and are eligible to receive a Plenary Indulgence. All are welcome!                Anointing of the sick 

9:30 am - 4:00 pm - Silent Veneration of St. Bernadette's Relics 

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Sacrament of Reconciliation 

4:00 pm - Stations of the Cross (connecting St. Bernadette's life to Our Lord's Passion) 

6:30 pm - Candlelight Rosary Procession (Gather in Pavilion). 

7:30 pm - Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience (experience Lourdes Water, touch an actual piece of the Lourdes Grotto, Benediction and Plenary Indulgence, and farewell to St. Bernadette as she concludes her tour in the U.S. returning to Lourdes on August 4th

MEN'S PRAYER GROUP


SATURDAYS 

6:30AM - 8:30AM Parish Hall


Calling All Men!

St. Bernardine's Men's Prayer Group resumes on Saturday mornings from 6:30AM-8:00AM in the Parish Hall. Our group will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and then watch and discuss The Metanoia video series featuring Father Dave Pivonka. Come pray and share your faith with us. All men are welcome.

 

BIBLE STUDY


St. Bernardine's Bible Study group is studying the book of Exodus. Zoom sessions began July 11 with Monday evenings from 7:00-8:30PM. Please notify the office if you wish to participate. Live sessions started July 12, with subsequent Tuesday mornings from 9:15AM - 10:45AM. No need to register for the live session, just show up with your bible (bibles also provided).

ALPHA


Alpha is a place to explore the Christian Faith with others.

It is a low pressure environment to discuss the big questions in life. 

Every Alpha session has three ingredients: Food, Talk & Discussion Mondays at 6:30 PM

  • The Saturday 5PM Mass will be the only livestreamed Mass.


  • Face masks are optional but highly recommended in the church and parish hall. Outdoor seating is still available at all Masses.


  • Confessions take place in the church on Saturdays from 9AM - 10AM.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA 

105th Year


The Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima transported directly from Portugal and consecrated by Archbishop Gomez, will be solemnly enshrined for public veneration at St. Bernardine of Siena Church on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 9:15 AM - 3PM. 


You are invited to join any or all of the public recitation and meditations on the mysteries of the rosary starting at 9:30AM or visit the church to privately pray for the intercession of Mary under the title of "Our Lady of Fatima" for peace in the world. FAITH FORMATION


Faith Formation classes for children in grades K-5 and our Jr. High program for grades (6-8) who attend public or private schools will begin the week of Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Classes are from 4:00 -5:00 PM. Registration forms are now available in the Parish Office or on our parish website, www.stbernardine.org. For more information, call (818) 340-1440.

  • Confirmation is a 2-year process.


  • A candidate can begin their Confirmation journey when they reach the 9th grade.

ALTAR SERVER TRAINING


We will be conducting 1 more Altar Server Training session during the summer. This program is open to boys and girls in grades 4 & up.


Students serve as altar servers during weekend Masses, at school Masses, and funerals and weddings, if available. All training is done in the church.

Our parish has numerous opportunities for parishioners to participate in. School parents can also earn volunteer hours volunteering for the church. Will you consider giving your time & talent?


We need:

  • Eucharistic Ministers 
  • Lectors 
  • Cross Bearers 
  • Ushers 
  • Altar Servers (Grades 4-12) 
  • Volunteers for Coffee/Donuts
  • Volunteers for 1st Friday Luncheons
  • Social Committee, and many other ministries
