Saints Alive!

May 7 - May 13, 2025

Let's welcome our new organist

 Diana Mukusheva

We are excited to welcome her on Sunday, May 18th!

Diana's musical journey began at the age of six when she was accepted into a prestigious State school for gifted musicians in the Republic of Kazakhstan, then part of the former Soviet Union. Over the course of an inspiring eleven years, she immersed herself in a rich world of music, participating in numerous cultural events, concerts, festivals, and competitions.

After graduating with honors, Diana pursued her passion further, earning a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the State Conservatory.

In 2010, she embarked on a new chapter of her life in the United States, where she has devoted herself to sharing her love for music through teaching, performing both as a soloist and in ensembles, and continuing to explore her artistry.

In 2021, Diana discovered a deep interest in historic instruments performing and began studying at Boston Organ Studio under Christian Lane. Her journey into this new realm of music now continues with organ and harpsichord studies under Peter Sykes. Additionally, she is delving into the fascinating world of 16th-century composition through her studies with Cody Forrest.

Diana’s lifelong dedication to music remains as vibrant as ever, as she continues to learn, explore, and inspire others with her artistry.

          Garden Party: Flower Festival

The stained glass windows of St. Columba’s Chapel have been described as one of the “greatest wonderments” in New England (Yankee magazine, 2010). Therefore the theme of this year’s Garden Party Flower Festival will be those very windows. The eight nave windows and the Booth window at the western end of the chapel will be interpreted in flowers, with arrangements placed on pedestals in front of each. Once again, visitors may purchase raffle tickets in hopes of taking home one (or more, if they’re especially lucky) of those arrangements.

Once nine participants have decided they would like to take part, we will hold a drawing to determine who does which window.

If you would like to take part in this year’s Flower Festival, please see me before or after church or get in touch by phone (401-846-3502 or 401-855-3502) or email at saraechadwick@cox.net, as soon as is possible.

Hope to hear from 9 of you!

Sara Chadwick

          Garden Party: Book Tent

A BIG YES to fiction, memoirs/biographies, very recent nonfiction, and kids’ books — IF they’re in good condition. Jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, and CDs also welcome.

PLEASE NO: How-to books, reference books, old cookbooks, textbooks, financial guides, magazines, or travel books. If it’s mildewed or dog-eared or underlined, we can’t sell it.

THANK YOU for taking a careful look before bringing in your books!

Drop off times are

SUNDAY and WEDNESDAY ONLY 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Starting May 11th

          Garden Party: Plant Booth

Liz Minifie and Wendy Houle are co-chairing the Garden Party Plant Booth this year and they are seeking volunteers and donations.

Please keep them in mind as you thin out your perennials and plant new seedlings. Please also let them know if you have any contacts in commercial landscaping. We want to avoid multiple approaches, so please check with one of them before making any direct requests to merchants.

Donations from your garden may be dropped off inside the wall by the lych gate during the week before the Garden Party. Plants will show best if they are dug up the Saturday before the party and have time to “harden” before going on display. They should be well watered, potted and labeled. Labels should identify the plant, color of bloom, annual or perennial, and requirements for light and water.

* Please note

Wendy is happy to go to parishioners' homes and do the digging for them, if needed.

If you can help us,

please contact Liz at 401-258-8576, ehminifie@gmail.com or

Wendy at 401-339-5768, whoule4198@gmail.com.

Many thanks!!!

Wanted: Volunteers to Work on the Silent Auction

We haven't had a Silent Auction tent for some time but we will this Garden Party. It will be on a smaller scale, however we want a nice and welcoming presentation of the displayed items.

Please contact me, Audrey MacLeod Pfeiffer, if you are interested in helping out and I will explain what it entails. 401 847 2158 or audjeamac@hotmail.com

Wanted: items for the Silent Auction

Ideas from past donations included: restaurant certificates, overnight at a B+B, if you have a boat a boat ride or a gift certificate for such from a commercial line, tickets for 2 to Jane Pickens theatre with a certificate for the snack bar, a wine basket, basket of garden supplies, basket of kids' games, tickets to a sport event, a weekend at your cottage, art work, jewelry, be creative.

For those on a budget, have 1 or 2 others go in on a donation together.

I ask that donations be display ready- the baskets are put together, the jewelry has a box, the vase or picture has been dusted off, etc.

If not obvious what the value of the donation is, we need to have one so we will know how much to start the bid.

Also, if you are going to ask for donations from a vendor, please let me know so I can keep track. We don't want multiple people going to the same vendor, shop, etc.

Also, if the vendor actually donated the item (as opposed to you buying it as your donation) let me know so a thank you will be acknowledged.
