Health and Emergency Preparedness/ALiCE
On Tuesday, January 28, we conducted a Shelter in Place Drill. This drill is one of our 5 state required “ALiCE” aka “Lockdown” drills. Shelter in Place protocol can be used for a variety of occurrences. We announced this is as a drill to all students and staff. We also notified the local authorities of the drill.

Post Drill Talking Points
Why is it important to be quiet for announcements:
  • So you and others can hear all of the information. This is the way most of the school will get information during an emergency.
  • When are times the school may use Shelter in Place.
  • Hazardous Material incidents, car accidents, medical emergencies, suspicious person outside.
  • What does see something...say something mean and why is it important.
  • If you hear, read or see something that is a cause for concern, tell an adult. Even if you think it is a joke, let the adult decide. In almost all violent intruder incidents, someone was aware before they happened.

What should you do if you are not with your class during a Shelter in Place?
  • Find a classroom or stay with the adult you are with and they will know the procedure for letting your teacher know where you are.

If you have any questions, please contact:
