Habitat for Humanity Opens the Door to Generational Wealth
ありがとう [Arigatou] -Japanese for Thank You
In May, our board of directors spent the day in Ellsworth building stairs, painting and landscaping as we wrapped up our Spring build events. With fourteen members, our board of directors share their professional skills to help neighbors become homeowners, and homeowners with home repair. You can learn more about our board online here. We are so grateful for the work and time they share! Thank you Board of Directors!
Habitat for Humanity, International celebrates 50 years this year. To review our mission, this question was the focus of research by our leadership, in partnership with Washington University in St. Louis, MO: Can homeownership actually deliver lasting wealth for households who need it most? Data from the study shows a definite yes:
- On average, Habitat homeowners see consistent improvements in their credit scores, gaining an average of 22 credit score points relative to their non-Habitat neighbor
- Habitat homeowners accumulate $1,800 more in liquid assets than comparable neighbors, with gains accelerating after the third year of homeownership.
- 83.4% of Habitat homeowners are satisfied or very satisfied with their home — compared to 48% of renters and 68.9% of non-Habitat homeowners.
The study, Paths to Stability and Wealth, supports our vision where everyone deserves housing security and long-term generational wealth building opportunities. Our homeownership requirements are based on income qualifications, need and willingness to partner. We head to Baldwin next! And hope you can join us for a hot dog and the chance to enjoy a summer Sunday afternoon at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic, Sunday, July 14.
Thank you for being wonderful neighbors! Happy Pride, Happy Juneteenth and Happy 4th of July from Kristie and the team

Crazy Days Sidewalk Sale
We are celebrating a huge year at the ReStore with a Sidewalk Sale July 7 - 11th!

Whether it's Back-to-School finds, or a piece of furniture that's perfect for a spot in your home, come out and pick your discount! Our famous fishbowl will be filled with savings coupons of up to 50% off an item. And of course, there will be cake! Come out and look around.
