Who's ready for some chamber music?! We are delighted to invite you to a wonderful concert the day before Easter! MCSQ desires to amplify the voices of people of culture in the classical music idiom. This concert features "Modes" by Dorothy Rudd Moore, Florence Price's "Five Folk Songs in Counterpoint" and Shelley Washington's "Middleground." We'll also be performing Sergei Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 2 in F Major.
The concert is free with all donations going to St. David's Episcopal Church.

JUSTMove:
A Special Service of Holy Eucharist
with Joe Davis and David Scherer
Sunday, May 1, one service at 9:30 am
Since October 2021, 30 or so members of St. David's have been meeting monthly with facilitators Joe Davis and David Scherer to have conversations about race and culture and to gather tools to speak out against racism and other forms of oppression. For attendees, this has been a profound, life-changing experience.
Joe and Dave, Christian musicians and artists, working with Rector Katherine Lewis and Minister of Music Roger Stratton, will lead worship, incorporating poetry, rap, and other forms of music. Please mark your calendars! And spread the word!
The service will be live streamed via Facebook and later uploaded to YouTube.

Dear Beloved of St. David's,
Our Covid Team met this week to assess Covid numbers and to continue to make decisions to help us gather as safely as possible. We are all tired of Covid, and yet we know that there is still a need to keep people safe, especially the more vulnerable among us (children too young to be vaccinated, people who are immunocompromised, and others). Our plan is to stay the course through the month of April (see masking and other guidelines below). We also want to hear from you--so we will be sending out a survey in the coming days to gather your input as we make decisions for May and into the summer. Please be on the lookout for that survey. Your input is important to us!
At least through the end of April: We will continue to sing, remaining masked. Please wear a good fitting, N95, KN95, or KF94 mask as you attend services, and remember not to come if you are feeling sick at all. We will have these types of masks available at church if you do not have one. COVID vaccinations with boosters offer yet another layer of protection, and are also strongly encouraged for all who are able. We will continue to offer wine in individual cups at communion.

Children’s Ministry: Sunday, April 17th there will be no Godly Play. Children are invited to participate in worship, using the play rug at the front of the sanctuary. Stay after the 9:30 service for a Resurrection Egg hunt!
Middle School Ministry: No youth group Wednesday, April 20th, as JUSTMove will be happening in the Undercroft.
High School Ministry: No Youth Group this Sunday, April 17th. We will gather again on April 24th at Trinity in Excelsior.

Adult Forum, Sunday, April 24, 10:45 am: Sojourner
Please join us on April 24 at our Sunday morning adult forum to welcome a representative from Sojourner, an organization in our neighborhood that supports people as they move away from being victims of domestic violence.
Sojourner's Mission
Advocates for victim safety;
Supports the transition from victim to survivor; and
Educates for the prevention and elimination of domestic violence.
Sojourner’s mission is to provide emergency shelter, support, and legal advocacy services to those victimized by domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence. To that end, we provide services to victims of dating violence and sexual assault. Our ultimate goal encourages the change from crisis to stability and the transition from victim to survivor. In order to build safer communities, Sojourner conducts outreach activities and specifically designed presentations to heighten public awareness and engage groups and individuals in educational opportunities to prevent future victims and abusers. All Sojourner services are confidential and free of charge.

St. David's Meditation Group is back! |

On Monday morning, May 2 at 9 am, St. David's meditation group will gather in the Oratory Conference Room. We begin with at reading and sit in prayerful silence for 20 minutes and end with communal prayer. No experience is necessary but your love and mindfulness. Please join us.

Join us virtually on zoom or in person at Woodlake Lutheran Church in Richfield on April 28 for a preview of Beacon’s newest supportive housing focused on autistic and other neurodivergent young adults at risk of homelessness, and see how you can get involved. Cranberry Ridge in Plymouth
With Cranberry Ridge nearing the end of construction, forty-five families will soon have a place to call home. Families are invited to fill out applications and Beacon hopes to be fully leased up by June. In August, a special picnic with residents and volunteers will be held as we build a playground that everyone can enjoy.
The road to Cranberry Ridge has been a long one. We’re so grateful to each and every one of you who have joined us on this journey. We’re looking forward to opening the building in just a couple of months. Thank you! Click here to take a look inside.
Bring It Home MN Digital Postcards
Thank you to everyone who took the time to send a “digital postcard” to legislators during the month of March. Roughly 800 “digital postcards” from about 50 faith communities across the Twin Cities were sent to 70 Minnesota lawmakers. Our voices have been making an impact, with dozens of elected leaders reaching out to support the “Bring It Home MN” bill.

Real Women “Camping“ Trip |
|
We have scheduled our annual camping trip at Clearwater Historic Lodge and Outfitters on the Gunflint Trail. We will check in on Monday August 22 and leave on Thursday August 25. (If they have a cancellation, we will add another day.) Clearwater Lodge is on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Weather permitting, we can choose from several day trips into the Boundary Waters. There are also several hiking trails and museums. We have reserved Cabin 11 which sleeps 19. It is a modern cabin with microwave, dishwasher, laundry, gas grill, gas fireplace, sun deck, screened porch, fire pit and dock. We stayed in this cabin three years ago. Pictures of the cabin are available on their website. It has a big table that is perfect for playing lots of games.

SAVE THE DATE! Learn about Serving the Needy in Your Community at the Annual Spring Meeting of Episcopal Churchwomen in St. Cloud on May 15!
President LaDonna Boyd announces that the ECMN Churchwomen are planning a face-to-face meeting at St. John’s in St. Cloud from 10 AM -Noon on Saturday, May 21, 2022! Nancy Dyson will present their parish’s program for the hungry and needy in their community, and two ECMN delegates will be approved to attend the 50th Triennial Meeting (also 150th Anniversary celebration for Episcopal Church Women) this summer at the Maritime Institute near Baltimore MD. At the luncheon following, 2021 ECMN Honored Churchwomen Gurtie Berkner from St. Mary’s in Basswood, Nancy Dyson from St. John’s in St. Cloud, and Julia New Landrum from Holy Trinity in St. Paul, will be recognized for their ministries and work; Sylvia Boettcher and Patricia Ann Doerer from St. Paul’s, Winona will also be memorialized and remembered as well.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that.
