Join us for live, in person worship at 9:30 this Sunday.
JUSTMove:
A Special Service of Holy Eucharist
with Joe Davis and David Scherer
Sunday, May 1, one service at 9:30 am
Joe and Dave will also stay to be with us for the Adult Forum, 10:45-11:30
Since October 2021, 30 or so members of St. David's have been meeting monthly with facilitators Joe Davis and David Scherer to have conversations about race and culture and to gather tools to speak out against racism and other forms of oppression. For attendees, this has been a profound, life-changing experience.
Joe and Dave, Christian musicians and artists, working with Rector Katherine Lewis and Minister of Music Roger Stratton, will lead worship, incorporating poetry, rap, and other forms of music. Please spread the word!
Check out this playlist, including songs that will be part of this Sunday's service

Please continue to wear a good fitting, N95, KN95, or KF94 mask as you attend services, and remember not to come if you are feeling sick at all. We will have these types of masks available at church if you do not have one. COVID vaccinations with boosters offer yet another layer of protection, and are also strongly encouraged for all who are able. We will continue to Facebook Livestream and upload to YouTube to accommodate for those who choose to stay home.

MS Ride 2022--Beckmann's Bike Brigade is Back!
|
|
The Bike MS: Twin Cities Ride is back on this year!
Once again, we are organizing a team to ride in the annual Bike MS: Twin Cities fundraiser. For those who don’t know, we ride in support of our own Dan Beckmann, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) back in 2018. Through early detection and the miracles of modern science, Dan is still able to live a busy work and family life while balancing the impacts of MS. So much progress with medicine and treatment has been made, but there is still work to be done. St. David’s has partnered with Dan’s employer, Westwood Professional Services, to field a team called Beckmann’s Bike Brigade (BBB) and 2022 will mark our 4th annual ride! We have strong ties to Westwood with Chris Carda, Dean Sather, Steven Bezat, and Maddie Harvala - all members of the St. David’s community working at Westwood along with Dan.
While the official Twin Cities ride will be held Sunday, May 15th, we have decided to model after last year’s successful event and will hold our own ride on Saturday, May 14th. You can still register and fundraise through the MS Bike Ride website; the only difference is that you can sign up for free when you chose the Virtual Participant option. This doesn’t affect our proceeds and fundraising. It actually provides the opportunity for more folks to informally join the ride and simply donate to the team without paying a registration fee. This also allows us to make it a family affair with bike trailers and tagalongs for the little ones to participate. This will be pretty informal, so just email chris.carda@westwoodps.com before the event if you have questions or want to ride along without formally signing up (emailing the day before is still not too late) for planning.
We’ll plan to meet at Westwood’s parking lot (12701 Whitewater Drive, Minnetonka MN 55343) on the SE side of the building for a 9:00 departure on Saturday morning, May 14th. We’ll ride the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail to the southwest for about 7.5 miles to Lake Riley and then turn around and go back to the office (15ish miles total). We’ll supply Yo-Yo Donuts for all to enjoy at the end of the ride. The trail is hard-packed gravel, so plan accordingly with your bike. If it looks like a complete washout with rain, we’ll hold Sunday, May 15th (same time and place) as a backup.
For those interested, you can sign up as a full participant and ride the MS Bike Ride event in Saint Paul on the 15th in addition to our ride on the 14th.
You can sign up for the team here. Our team name is Beckmann’s Bike Brigade.
If you can’t ride, but would like to donate, here.

Introducing Dan Miglets-Nelson!
ECMN's new Minister for Children & Youth
In his role, Dan will listen deeply to our faith communities around the diocese. Congregations are the primary places where our children are formed as disciples of Jesus, and Dan's most important job will be to support the good work being done at the congregational level with children and youth.

March Pledge Income was somewhat less than planned but this can be attributed to a significant pre-payment of pledges in January and February. Income for the first Quarter is higher than planned. Year-to-Date Expenses continue to run lower than planned and Net Income for first Quarter is significantly higher than planned.
Thank you for your continued support of St. David’s.
Gratefully,
Cathy Schwichtenberg, Treasurer

Serving our community
* ICA provided food to 44% more households this March than in March 2021. Repeat food visits have increased, perhaps related to current inflation & higher food costs.
* A second school food shelf just opened at Alice Smith Elementary. (Gatewood Elementary was the first, which started last October.) Gethsemane Lutheran Church which is located next to the school has offered to help run the program as a community partner.
* Summer produce markets will be offered again this year, starting later in May. Eisenhower Community Center has been added as a market site in addition to Gethsemane Church. Dates will be included in future updates.
* ICA is currently exploring its role in the community and ways to better help our neighbors.
Some things being considered: Having more neighborhood involvement (into local parks, pantries in churches), working more specifically with youth & seniors, expanding housing advocacy.
* A Community Outreach Liaison, Charmaine Bell, has been hired for additional outreach support. Part of her role will be to work with schools & families more directly.
March Foodshare Campaign Results
83,287 pounds of food & $252,492 were donated to ICA during this year’s Minnesota FoodShare Campaign! Thank you to all who contributed.
ICA Collection THIS SUNDAY, May 1
Now that we are gathering in person each Sunday, the monthly food collection is being restarted on the first Sunday of each month. Baskets for your donated items are at each church entrance.
Current ICA needs include:
* food - cereal, coffee, tea
* paper products: tissues, toilet paper, towels
* baby items: baby food, baby wipes, diapers size 5, pull-ups
* personal items: shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, adult diapers
However, anything you want to donated is always appreciated.
Please bring any extra paper bags you might have. ICA uses more than 6000/ month!
If you are still attending church via Zoom, you can drop off your items when it is convenient for you in one of the baskets at any of the church entrances.
Another option that is also appreciated is a cash donation - a check made out to ICA dropped in the collection basket or sent to ICA at 12990 St. David’s Road, Minnetonka 55305. Did you know that ICA can take every dollar donated & stretch it 10x! Your dollars are even more valuable than in the past as the cost of some of the staples ICA has to purchase has increased 100-200% in these unsettled times. Your generosity is always appreciated.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.
If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
or:
and we will assist you in finding solutions.

To add someone to the prayers, please contact the office: office@stdavidsparish.org
We will include all individuals in the prayers list for four consecutive weeks, and then they will be removed from the list. If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that. This way we will keep all prayer lists updated and recent.
