This Sunday: Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
We will gather for worship indoors at 8:00 and 9:30 this Sunday, August 7. Mask wearing is recommended but not required.

We will continue to Facebook Livestream the Sunday 9:30 service and upload to YouTube to accommodate for those who choose to stay home.

Monthly ICA Ingathering
This Sunday, August 7th, and continuing on the first Sunday of each month, we will be collecting donations for the ICA Food Shelf. Please bring nonperishable food items or financial gifts, which will be presented during the offertory at the 9:30 service. Please refer to the full ICA Update listed later on in this email. Thank You!
This Sunday, we welcome the Rev. Tom Roy as our celebrant and preacher.

The Rev. Tom Roy was ordained an Episcopal Priest in June of 2020 in an almost empty Cathedral. The year before, pre-covid, there were hundreds of people present at his ordination as a deacon. Tom spent 34 years of his life as a police officer in Central Kansas and Central Minnesota retiring in October of 2015. Tom says that he has always felt God or the Holy Spirit calling him to do more to further the kingdom and in 2016 he entered formal discernment followed by 3 years in the school for formation in Minnesota. Tom and his wife Alexis have 4 adult children between them and 3 grandchildren. Tom is currently a priest in residence at St. John's Episcopal Church in St Cloud, MN and does supply priest duties as time allows.
Baptisms at the Creek
Mark you Calendars for Baptisms at the Creek!

August 21
9:30 am
At Minnehaha Creek
by the gazebo on Minnetonka Blvd.

In the past, staff member Adam Hovis was instrumental in setting up for our creek side service. Many of us remember his loving presence and hard work at the July, 2021 service (and many services before!). Who among us knew that he would die shortly thereafter? We will honor Adam as part of our August 21 service and, whether you can be present or not, invite you to offer your prayers of thanksgiving for the life and ministry of Adam Hovis.

We are looking for a crew of folks to help set up on Sunday morning at the Mills Park Gazebo. Please email office@stdavidsparish.org if you are available to help.
Children and Youth Ministry Updates
Join the Children and Youth Committee!
I am looking for folks who are passionate about Children and Youth Ministry! This committee will be a team of people ready to take on tasks to expand and enrich the children and youth ministries we’ve built this past year. This committee will take on tasks, specific events, projects, and ministries, in order to help me out in getting regular programming together, and expand outside the walls of St. David’s.
We will meet in the evenings on the last Tuesday of the month, starting with Tuesday, August 30th.

Please email me if you are interested!

Please email abrock@stdavidsparish.org with what day camp you sign up for so we can connect St. David's folks with one another!
“Gratitude, Praise and Affirmation”-
An hour with an actor and a bag of poems!
Join us on August 14 at 7:00 at St. David's for a fundraising evening with well-known Guthrie actor Allen Hamilton reading poems about Gratitude, Praise and Affirmation. Deacon Emeritus Rev. Guy Drake will join Allen with readings on the same topics from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer.

Come prepared to be inspired by readings from great poets both historical and contemporary on these three subjects, so relevant in today's world!

Allen Hamilton has played 23 roles at the Guthrie Theater over many decades, as well as many roles at most of the theatres in the Twin Cities, and theatres in Boston, Memphis, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Chicago. He played Uncle Ben in “Death of a Salesman” on Broadway, starring Brian Dennehy, and repeated the role at the Lyric Theatre in London for a nine month run. He has been seen in over thirty films and television movies, including “Code of Silence” with Chuck Norris and “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford. Allen lives in St. Louis Park with his wife, painter Susan Wagner, and has been a frequent visitor at St. David's services.

A free will offering will be taken at the door to help contribute to St. David's many ministries.
An Invitation from Good Courage Farm
Food for All:
Partner with Good Courage by helping to grow and share the farm's organic produce

Good Courage Farm, located 68 miles from the Twin Cities, is a fully-functional farm that is in partnership with the Episcopal Church. The farmers use organic and increasingly regenerative methods to grow lots of perennial food crops. The 18-acre farmstead is home to cats, dogs, ducks, goats and a few stray peafowl, as well as a myriad of other creatures - songbirds, frogs, grasshoppers, bats and more!

Located in Hutchinson, a major part of Good Courage Farm's mission is to share the food that they produce and they donate a large portion of their crops to Minnesota food pantries, including First Nations Kitchen - one of their major food partners.

Two of the major crops donated to First Nations Kitchen are apples and potatoes. The farm is looking for some volunteers over the next few weeks to aid in some work directly relating to the crops to be donated to First Nations Kitchen. Volunteers can work partial or full days, lunch and lemonade are provided - and you can spend your breaks petting the goats, watching the peahens trying to get into the barn, or being amused by the team of adolescent tuxedo ducks. This is truly a magical place, and they need our help!

Reach out to Laura Natta via text or telephone to support the vision and seed the future - and help First Nations Kitchen at the same time. 417-849-3474.
Pie and Prayer Services at Good Courage Farm are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm and Saturday mornings at 9:00am. This is a beautiful time of prayer and worship, chanting Psalms, reflecting in the Gospel, and eating homemade pie!

ICA Update
Busy Summer at the Food Shelf
ICA is serving more neighbors than in years. This past June, 886 different families received full food orders from ICA - the highest monthly number on recording over seven years! They also distributed 1360 full food orders & emergency bags during that time. Again, the highest number since early 2015.

How can you help? More than ever ICA is relying on the generosity of its supporters. With inflation impacting its purchasing power, it is your donations that are helping to keep the shelves stocked with healthy and culturally relevant options for our neighbors. You can help by going to www.icafoodshelf.org, then click on Donate. Under that same Donate button, do check out Food Drive Spotlight to see what several community groups have done recently to help meet their neighbors’ needs.

Outdoor Produce Markets This Month
The August ICA outdoor produce markets are scheduled this month on two Saturdays, 8/13 & 8/27. A wide variety of fresh vegetables and fruit will be available for pick up between 10 am & 12 noon. Note: the market location has changed for the rest of the season. It will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins. All are welcome. No appointments are needed.

August ICA Food Collection this Sunday, 8/7
The Food Shelf is currently running low on a number of items, including those listed below:
* cereal, oatmeal
* cooking oil, olive oil
* tea, coffee, Keurig cups
* baby food, wipes, diapers/pull-ups
* toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo
* wet dog & cat food, kitty litter

Bring your items to donate to church this Sunday. If it is more convenient for you, just drop off your non-perishable items any time in the baskets provided at the east or south doors. As always, the above are suggestions. Anything you want to donate is always appreciated. Thanks.

Grocery bags needed
For the past few months, the Food Shelf has been running extremely low on paper grocery bags. ICA uses these bags for just about everything & rely on donations to keep from having to purchase them. If you have any extra paper grocery bags laying around, please consider donating them to the ICA.

You can put them in the baskets at church or drop them off at the K-Tel location (11588 K-Tel Drive just off Shady Oak Road). Donation hours: Monday 10-6:30, Tuesday 10-3:30, Wednesday 9-3:30, Thursday 10-3:30, Friday 10-12 and Saturday 10-12 (1st & 3rd Saturdays only.
