"In the first century, Jesus of Nazareth inspired a movement. A community of people whose lives were centered on Jesus Christ and committed to living the way of God’s unconditional, unselfish, sacrificial, and redemptive love. As Episcopalians, we believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."
"We believe that God loves us all – no exceptions."

This Sunday: The Day of Pentecost
|
|
Join us for live, in person worship this Sunday. Note: there will be one service at 9:30. We will celebrate lay leaders during the service. We hope you'll stay afterwards for our parish picnic (more information below)!
We will continue to Facebook Livestream the Sunday 9:30 service and upload to YouTube to accommodate for those who choose to stay home.

When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them. Acts 2:1-4, translation from The Message
This Sunday, June 5, the Day of Pentecost, we'll celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Join us at worship at 9:30 (one service), wearing colors of the flame: red, orange yellow!
Do you read/speak in a language other than English? We invite you to join in on the reading from the Acts of the Apostles that day, Acts 2:1-21. Email Office Assistant Anna Brock at office@stdavidsparish.org to read, specifying which language. Bring your own translation that day or ask Anna for help if you need a copy printed at church.

Katherine to Study in London
|
|
With an invitation from Bishop Loya and in collaboration with other church leaders, Katherine will join clergy from Minnesota and beyond for an intensive course in London entitled Learning from London. She will be away June 9-20.
Learning from London is led by Jason Fout, Academic Dean Associate Professor of Anglican Theology at Bexley Seabury Seminary in Chicago. Dr. Fout is the author of the book Learning from London.
From Dr. Fout: "As most mainline Christian denominations struggle with declining numbers, the Church of England in the Diocese of London is bucking the trend. In one of the most diverse, multi-faith, urban, and pluralistic cities in the world, London churches are growing and thriving against the odds, proclaiming the gospel afresh, and meeting the needs of their communities in creative, innovative, and life-changing ways."
The aim of the course is for students' own imaginations to be stimulated for renewed ministry in their own particular contexts. This will take place through learning from and conversing with current practitioners; through encountering and appropriating specific approaches and methods; and through acts of “analogical imagination” in which the student appropriates with difference specific approaches and methods encountered, modified for the student’s specific ministry context.
ECMN has funded Katherine's tuition for the course and St. David's has paid for her airfare (from our Continuing Education budget line item).
We look forward to Katherine's sharing with us her learnings upon her return.
We will welcome the Rev. Nick Mezacappa as our supply priest on June 12 and the Rev. Canon Robert Two Bulls on June 19.
Safe travels, Katherine!

We’ve been called to form our very own Justice Committee! Many of us have felt momentum and MOVED to continue our learning, growth and commitment to allyship and social change, after participating in JUSTMove over the past nine months! We’ll be meeting for our first time in July and are energized in identifying and leading St. David’s in social change opportunities, and finding more diverse connections within our broader community! There will be many opportunities for our whole congregation to engage in this ministry. Stay tuned!
Do justice, and love kindness, and walk humbly with your God

St. David's Book Club News
|
|
St. David’s Book Club will meet on Tuesday, 6/7 from 6:30 pm to 7:55 pm via Zoom. We will be discussing The Sentence by Louise Erdrich.
"In this stunning and timely novel, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning author Louise Erdrich creates a wickedly funny ghost story, a tale of passion, of a complex marriage and of a woman's relentless errors. Louise Erdrich's latest novel, The Sentence, asks what we owe to the living, the dead, to the reader and to the book. A small independent bookstore in Minneapolis is haunted from November 2019 to November 2020 by the store's most annoying customer. Flora dies on All Souls' Day, but she simply won't leave the store. Tookie, who has landed a job selling books after years of incarceration that she survived by reading 'with murderous attention' must solve the mystery of this haunting while at the same time trying to understand all that occurs in Minneapolis during a year of grief, astonishment, isolation and furious reckoning. The Sentence begins on All Souls' Day 2019 and ends on All Souls' Day 2020. Its mystery and proliferating ghost stories during this one year propel a narrative as rich, emotional and profound as anything Louise Erdrich has written"
~ Hclib.org
This is the second Erdrich book we have read in 2022. Part of the discussion will compare The Night Watchman and The Sentence. Please join us!
Upcoming selections:
August 2 The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri
October 4 Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
December 6 Proud Shoes by Pauli Murray

Summer Sizzle on June 16th
Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 16. The K-Tel Food Shelf location will be transformed into a festive atmosphere while giving you a behind the scenes peek at how ICA serves thousands of families. This fun event will include music, appetizers, beverages, a silent auction & a short inspiring program.
The best part is that all funds raised that day will support ICA’s vital kids food programs including the Kids Summer Market , School Snack Program, Weekend Backpack Program & the new School-BasedMarket and Resource Centers. Tickets can be purchased at www.icafoodshelf.org/sizzle.
Outdoor Produce Markets in June
As has been mentioned before, ICA will be hosting an outdoor produce market twice a month through the summer & fall. The June markets will be held on the 11th & the 25th (Saturdays) at Eisenhower Community Center, 1001 Highway 7 in Hopkins. If you know anyone who may be experiencing food insecurity, please let them know about this special opportunity. All are welcome. No appointment is necessary.
Sharing your Produce
There is another way to get produce to our neighbors who don’t have the means to grow their own vegetables & may not be able to afford rising produce costs. If you are gardening this summer, please consider planting a little extra for an ICA donation. Your produce will be made available at the K-Tel location, various community food distributions & for mobile deliveries. Last summer a caring Minnetonka High School student built a raised garden bed & donated all her produce to the ICA Food Shelf. A wonderful gift that was enjoyed through the summer & appreciated by many!
ICA Collection THIS SUNDAY, June 5
The Food Shelf is currently running low on a number of items, including those listed below:
* food: cereal (hot & cold), coffee, tea, olive oil
* paper products: tissues, paper towels, toilet paper
* baby items: baby food, baby wipes, diapers size 5, pull-ups
* personal items: shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, adult diapers
* soaps (bar, dish, laundry)
* wet cat/dog food, kitty litter
* kids’ food for the Kids Summer Market such as mac & cheese, peanut butter, crackers, granola bars, fruit cups & other healthy snacks
These are just suggestions. Anything you bring is gladly accepted. You can bring your items to church this Sunday or drop them off in the baskets provided at any church entrance. Another option that is always appreciated is a cash donation - a check made out to ICA dropped in the collection basket or sent to ICA at 12990 St.David’s Road, Minnetonka 55305. Thank you.

Invitation from the Rev. Aaron Twait
|
|
Dear St. David's Friends,
It’s a pleasure to invite you to my ordination to the priesthood on Saturday, June 18th at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis! The service begins at 10:30, and the nave will open for seating at 10:00. Masking requirements are in effect. If you aren't able to come but would like to watch, the ordinations will be livestreamed on ECMN's Facebook page. For those who do attend in person, there will be a reception at the Cathedral following the ordination service. I hope that I'll be able to see many of you there!
I'm grateful to everyone at St. David's for all your support, prayers, and guidance during my internship and since then. My time with you has formed me for ministry in very important ways, and I'm much better equipped to serve in God's church as a result!
Blessings,
- The Rev. Aaron Twait

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.
If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
or:

Pastoral Care Line: 952-767-0891
|
|
To add someone to the prayers, please contact the office: office@stdavidsparish.org
We will include all individuals in the prayers list for four consecutive weeks, and then they will be removed from the list. If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that. This way we will keep all prayer lists updated and recent.
