This Sunday: The Fourth Sunday of Easter
|
|
Join us for live, in person worship at 8:00 and 9:30 this Sunday.
St. David's COVID Policy as of May 1st, 2022:
Ongoing
- We will continue requiring masks for indoor Sunday worship for the time being.
- We will continue to serve wine in individual cups.
- We will plan to hold services indoors for most of the summer with one outdoor service each month.
- We will continue to monitor Covid activity in the community along with vaccine developments and adjust our approaches accordingly.
Beginning Sunday, May 1st:
- We will move from requiring masks to strongly recommending them for all non-worship indoor congregational activities (Sunday Forums, coffee hours, and other church-wide events).
- We will allow leaders of smaller individual groups such as Choir, Youth Group, Contemplative Prayer, etc. make the choice of recommending or requiring masks for their events.
We will continue to Facebook Livestream the Sunday 9:30 service and upload to YouTube to accommodate for those who choose to stay home.

Sunday, May 15--Leaders from the Minnetonka Coalition for Equitable Education
The Minnetonka Coalition for Equitable Education is a student-led organization supported by alumni, parents, and community partners, including a growing number of faith communities. The MCEE advocates for a more equitable education for all Minnetonka students through adoption of its Imperatives for Equitable Education.
On Sunday, May 15, St. David's welcomes MCEE representatives, student leader Soren Lee (they/them) and alum Mary Koehler (she/her), to our adult forum. They will discuss how the MCEE got started, what are the Imperatives for Equitable Education, and the role faith community partners play in the Coalition. There will be ample time reserved for dialogue with the MCEE reps.

Pentecost and Parish Picnic
|
|
When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them. Acts 2:1-4, translation from The Message
On the Day of Pentecost, Sunday, June 5, we'll celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Join us at worship at 9:30 (one service only), wearing colors of the flame: red, orange yellow! And we hope you'll stay afterwards for a parish picnic. Be on the lookout for more picnic details in the coming weeks.
We're also looking for readers that morning to read the Pentecost story (Acts 2:1-4) in different languages. We'll have translations available that morning, or feel free to bring your own translation. For more information, contact Interim Office Assistant Anna Brock at [email protected].

MS Ride 2022--Beckmann's Bike Brigade is Back!
|
|
The Bike MS: Twin Cities Ride is back on this year!
Once again, we are organizing a team to ride in the annual Bike MS: Twin Cities fundraiser. For those who don’t know, we ride in support of our own Dan Beckmann, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) back in 2018. Through early detection and the miracles of modern science, Dan is still able to live a busy work and family life while balancing the impacts of MS. So much progress with medicine and treatment has been made, but there is still work to be done. St. David’s has partnered with Dan’s employer, Westwood Professional Services, to field a team called Beckmann’s Bike Brigade (BBB) and 2022 will mark our 4th annual ride! We have strong ties to Westwood with Chris Carda, Dean Sather, Steven Bezat, and Maddie Harvala - all members of the St. David’s community working at Westwood along with Dan.
While the official Twin Cities ride will be held Sunday, May 15th, we have decided to model after last year’s successful event and will hold our own ride on Saturday, May 14th. You can still register and fundraise through the MS Bike Ride website; the only difference is that you can sign up for free when you chose the Virtual Participant option. This doesn’t affect our proceeds and fundraising. It actually provides the opportunity for more folks to informally join the ride and simply donate to the team without paying a registration fee. This also allows us to make it a family affair with bike trailers and tagalongs for the little ones to participate. This will be pretty informal, so just email [email protected] before the event if you have questions or want to ride along without formally signing up (emailing the day before is still not too late) for planning.
We’ll plan to meet at Westwood’s parking lot (12701 Whitewater Drive, Minnetonka MN 55343) on the SE side of the building for a 9:00 departure on Saturday morning, May 14th. We’ll ride the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail to the southwest for about 7.5 miles to Lake Riley and then turn around and go back to the office (15ish miles total). We’ll supply Yo-Yo Donuts for all to enjoy at the end of the ride. The trail is hard-packed gravel, so plan accordingly with your bike. If it looks like a complete washout with rain, we’ll hold Sunday, May 15th (same time and place) as a backup.
For those interested, you can sign up as a full participant and ride the MS Bike Ride event in Saint Paul on the 15th in addition to our ride on the 14th.
You can sign up for the team here. Our team name is Beckmann’s Bike Brigade.
If you can’t ride, but would like to donate, here.

Introducing Dan Miglets-Nelson!
ECMN's new Minister for Children & Youth
In his role, Dan will listen deeply to our faith communities around the diocese. Congregations are the primary places where our children are formed as disciples of Jesus, and Dan's most important job will be to support the good work being done at the congregational level with children and youth.

Thank you
Thanks to all who brought items (food, personal care products, paper bags, egg cartons) this past Sunday to donate to the Food Shelf. Everything donated is truly appreciated.
Postal Food Drive Saturday, May 14
Don’t forget to leave a bag of food at your mailbox for the annual Postal Food Drive on Saturday, May 14. Mail carriers will pick up food at your mailbox and bring it to ICA for volunteers to sort. All food collected in our community stays in our community.
New Birthday Bag Program
Beginning this month, ICA is starting a birthday bag program for clients. Birthday bags will be offered to families with school-age children to help celebrate their birthday during the month. Each bag will contain cake mix, frosting, candles, plates and napkins.
Since the program is entirely new, ICA especially needs support from the community. Please consider donating any of the items listed above and spread the word to your family and friends. This program is a great volunteer opportunity. Consider getting together with friends and set aside some time to assemble bags together.
ICA Mission: To create a healthy and stable community for all.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.
If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
or:
and we will assist you in finding solutions.

Pastoral Care Line: 952-767-0891
|

We will include all individuals in the prayers list for four consecutive weeks, and then they will be removed from the list. If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that. This way we will keep all prayer lists updated and recent.
