New Website and Instagram &
A Request for Photo Permission
We hope that you have been able to view and play around with our new website, and are enjoying its photos and features. The website is for those who have been at St. David's their whole lives, as well as those just finding out about St. David's for the first time.

St. David's is now also on Instagram, in addition to Facebook! Be sure to follow @st.davidsepiscopalchurch on Instagram.

We are making an effort to take more photos that represent the vibrant community at St. David’s but we need your help, in the form of consent, to use and post these photos.

In order to meet everyone's comfort level regarding security and privacy on the internet, St. David's is asking you to fill out a form officially stating your willingness for us to use photos and/or videos of you.  There is also a box for you to check if you are not comfortable with your photo being used anywhere on our website, social media, or print media.  The form also contains a line for adding children's names, if you are the parent or guardian of a child in the congregation.

There are several ways you can fill out this form. Pick whichever way is easiest for you!

  • Click here to view the PDF of this form, and either use a PDF editor to fill in the information, or print it out yourself and scan a copy of the completed form to office@stdavidsparish.org.
  • Print out this form and complete it, and bring the hard copy to church to hand in. There will be a table in the Narthex for completed forms.
  • Come to church in the coming weeks and stop by the table in the Narthex, where there will be blank forms. Complete the form at the table and hand it in.

Thank you for your help making St. David's a place where everyone's comfort and privacy levels are respected. Enjoy the new website, and let us know if you have any questions about this permission form, the new website, or Instagram by emailing office@stdavidsparish.org
Covid Update
Dear Beloved,

Covid19 case numbers continue to fluctuate unpredictably and your leaders are doing their best to keep up. We feel strongly that our building should remain open for the mental and soulful well being of our parish. We want you to be aware however that numbers are high right now for new cases of Covid19 per 100,000 people. There are also more breakthrough cases of the Delta variant among fully vaccinated people. So please use your best judgment on whether you want to attend church services in person or not. Please DO NOT come to church if you are ill or have any Covid19 symptoms. Here is a decision tree and information (meant for schools but applicable to church) to help you decide your best course of action should a Covid 19 symptom arise or if you find out you were in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid19: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/exguide.pdf

Please email office@stdavidsparish.org if you test positive for Covid.

If you do plan to attend church please keep the following in mind:
1. Always properly mask (over nose and mouth). This includes before and after Communion and at coffee hour.
2. Please maintain social distance as much as possible. We often see the far side (east side) of the Sanctuary empty. Please use this seating. Additionally, there is seating in the Narthex.
3. There is often a smaller crowd at the 8am service. Please consider worshipping then if you are able.
4. There will not be congregational singing until the Covid19 case numbers go down. We will also be scaling back on congregational speaking such as the Psalm, the Nicene Creed, and the Confession.

Our 9:30am service will continue to be livestreamed on Facebook and later posted to our YouTube station.

Our deepest desire is to create a safe environment for worship and community. We acknowledge that no building or gathering can be 100% safe. Please do what is best for you and know that you are a beloved part of our community whether you attend in person or online. May we surround each other in love and prayers as we navigate this time of uncertainty together. Loving God. Loving one another.

Peace be with you,

Katherine, Rector
Huldah, Sr. Warden
Randy, Jr. Warden
Roger, Minister of Music
Allison, Vestry Member
Indoor Worship with Holy Eucharist
Sunday, November 14 at 8:00 and 9:30
We will continue to worship indoors this coming Sunday at both 8:00 and 9:30.

Masks are required and we ask that you leave space between yourselves and others if possible. The nursery will be available during the 9:30 service. Please note that services will continue to be Livestreamed on Facebook and uploaded to YouTube for those who wish to worship virtually.

LOVING GOD. LOVING ONE ANOTHER.
Coffee Hour on Sunday
Join us for Coffee Hour this Sunday as we celebrate Bob Triebenbach's 90th Birthday!

Bob has been a faithful servant of St. David's since the fall of 1978 when he and his late wife Mari-Lou became members.

Throughout the years, Bob served on the Vestry, was both Junior and Senior Warden, and a member of the Altar Guild. He was a Lay Eucharistic Visitor for many years, led Saturday Morning Prayer, led the team for Loaves and Fishes for 25 years, served as bookkeeper and watered the plants every week! And last, but not least, prepared and served delicious food from St. David's kitchen for Wednesday night dinners and most gatherings.

Happy Birthday, Bob!
Bell Choir this Sunday!
Join us in enjoying the music from the St. David's Bell Choir this Sunday, November 14th during the 9:30 service. They rehearse each Wednesday to prepare pieces for the congregation.
Singing Update
As we continue to monitor the pandemic numbers, we are trying to find ways for people to sing as safely as possible. Our choir is an opportunity to do that. The choir has been meeting for abbreviated rehearsals, masked and distanced, and has begun singing at liturgies.

More singers are always welcome, especially now as we start practicing for Advent and Christmas. The choir rehearses most Wednesday evenings at 7:15 (except on JustMove weeks). We have an additional rehearsal this Sunday, Nov. 14, after church at 10:45. That would be a good time to come and give singing a try. Feel free to come to a rehearsal just for the joy of it; there’s no need to make a regular commitment right now. We want to give people who miss singing an opportunity to sing, with no obligations. If you like it, then you can consider joining us for a season.

We have to take another break from congregational singing for the time being, but for those who are comfortable with the safety protocols, the choir can still be a chance for you to make a joyful (but careful) noise. Contact Roger Stratton (rstratton@stdavidsparish.org) for more information.
Thanksgiving Eve Worship
Holy Eucharist with Music
Join us as we gather together to give thanks for all of the blessings of life.

Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 24th, 7:00 PM

For those unable to attend in person, we will livestream the service and will also post it to our St. David's YouTube station.
God of evolving diversity, made known in seed and soil, and the wonder of animal worlds: free our hearts from the anxiety which knows only domination; open our being to learn from the life with which we share this earth; through Jesus Christ, the Lord of the harvest. Amen.

Invitation to be a Reader!
Have you ever considered being a reader during the Sunday services at St. David's? This is a great way to become more involved with the service, and an opportunity to tackle the #1 most common fear - public speaking - in front of a group of unconditionally loving and supporting people. Please email office@stdavidsparish.org if this sounds like something you would like to try. It is always rewarding to step outside your comfort zone!

St. David's Book Club News
St. David’s Book Club will meet on Tuesday, 12/7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom. After a short 2022 planning meeting, we will be discussing Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson. The book was a New York Times best seller and New York Times Notable Book of the Year.

Moving forward and backward in time, Jacqueline Woodson's taut and powerful new novel uncovers the role that history and community have played in the experiences, decisions, and relationships of these families, and in the life of the new child.
As the book opens in 2001, it is the evening of sixteen-year-old Melody's coming of age ceremony in her grandparents' Brooklyn brownstone. Watched lovingly by her relatives and friends, making her entrance to the music of Prince, she wears a special custom-made dress. But the event is not without poignancy. Sixteen years earlier, that very dress was measured and sewn for a different wearer: Melody's mother, for her own ceremony-- a celebration that ultimately never took place.
Unfurling the history of Melody's family – reaching back to the Tulsa race massacre in 1921 -- to show how they all arrived at this moment, Woodson considers not just their ambitions and successes but also the costs, the tolls they've paid for striving to overcome expectations and escape the pull of history. As it explores sexual desire and identity, ambition, gentrification, education, class and status, and the life-altering facts of parenthood, Red at the Bone most strikingly looks at the ways in which young people must so often make long-lasting decisions about their lives--even before they have begun to figure out who they are and what they want to be.
                                                                                                                      ~ Amazon.com

Woodson’s writing is exquisite and tells a moving multi-generational story in just over 200 pages. Please join us for the last Book Club meeting of 2021!

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: twokat@centurylink.net or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: klewis@stdavidsparish.org or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
