God of ages,
in Your sight nations rise and fall and pass through times of peril.
Now when our land is troubled be near to judge and to save.

May leaders be led by Your wisdom;
May they search for your will and see it clearly.

In any ways we have turned from Your way, help us to reverse them.

Give us Your light and Your truth to guide us.
Through Jesus Christ who is Lord of this world, and our Saviour. Amen

ICA Update - Specific Needs for January
We all looked forward to the arrival of the New Year and putting a challenging year behind us. However, for many, their day-to-day struggles continue. This includes the uncertainty of being able to afford just the basics needed for daily living.

The mission of the ICA (Intercongregational Communities Asssistance) is to offer hope as we provide assistance to our neighbors in need. The following thank you note ICA received reinforces the value of this mission: “Thank you so much for the assistance. It has helped me and it has taken a huge burden off my shoulders. You have been such a blessing and I am so glad and proud to be part of a community where we look out for one another.”

St. David’s January collection for the ICA will occur through next week. ICA has identified some specific current needs. Anything you can donate is always most welcome but, if possible, please include some of the following items:
• peanut butter
• tea & coffee
• toilet paper
• wet pet food (for dog or cat)
Please bring your donations to the east entrance by late Friday, January 22.

Or consider making a financial contribution, either as an online gift through icafoodshelf.org or mailing a check to: ICA Food Shelf, 12990 St. David’s Road, Minnetonka 55305. Thank you for continuing to support our community through the ICA.
Greetings,

I hope you are doing well amongst these turbulent times and I’m sure, like me you are praying for a return to civility and hope in our nation.

I wanted to let you know of an upcoming event hosted by Beacon Interfaith Housing that may interest you as a former member of St. David’s Housing Team. I have already signed up to attend to learn more about Bring It Home Minnesota.

Beacon Interfaith Housing is launching their legislative advocacy work for 2021 with a virtual event to share their vision and hear about what is at stake in this legislative session. It will be a time to take action together by having a public dialogue with legislators and legislative leadership about how they will prioritize housing and support a statewide rent subsidy program called Bring It Home, Minnesota.

This event is taking place on Thursday, January 21 from 7:00-8:00 PM.
It’s easy to register for the event up on their web site at

I invite you join me in attending. Let me know your thoughts and questions. It’s been a while since we’ve engaged with Beacon and I’m curious to learn more. If this is something you’d wish to attend please go online to register but let me know if you plan to attend. I’m not looking to restarting the housing team at St. David’s at this time but thought you might be interested.

Best to You and Stay Safe,
Carol Johnson

St. David's Book Club's
Next book "Left to Tell"
February 2 at 6:30 PM

St. David's Book Club meets the First Tuesday of every other month from 6:30-8:00 PM. February's book is Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.

Immaculee Ilibagiza grew up in a country she loved, surrounded by a family she cherished. But in 1994 her idyllic world was ripped apart as Rwanda descended into a bloody genocide. Immaculee’s family was brutally murdered during a killing spree that lasted three months and claimed the lives of nearly a million Rwandans.

Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them. It was during those endless hours of unspeakable terror that Immaculee discovered the power of prayer, eventually shedding her fear of death and forging a profound and lasting relationship with God.

Peace Cam Videos Needed

If you've already sent one in for past Sundays, send a new one!

Please submit brief videos to Huldah Niles at [email protected]
We don’t know how long this will be required and how it will affect our most vulnerable parishioners, so the 11 members of the combined Pastoral Care Team have been calling about 24 St. David’s members and families to share a little remote fellowship, pray together, and determine if they have any unmet needs that our community could help provide. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and are having their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They also seem in good spirits and are adjusting pretty well to the isolation.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: [email protected] or (952) 237-0031
or:
Rev. Katherine Lewis at: [email protected] or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.

Phases of Re-Gathering in ECMN
Guidelines and Planning Resource Document

ECMN has released the 3rd iteration of the ECMN Re-Gathering Planning Document on August 18th. The updates to this document center on the newly outlined plan for faith communities to move to gathering in person in faith community buildings in the months to come.

To be clear, there is no expectation that faith communities can/should/must return to their buildings.

Currently, ECMN remains in Phase 1.5 of this plan. Click here to read the plan.
