St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish
Bringing People Into A Growing Relationship With Jesus Christ
We celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ this weekend, as well as more first Communions in our parish. Jesus makes it clear in the gospel reading this Sunday, when he tells us that he is the living bread that came down from heaven, that this bread is his flesh, and that when we eat it we will remain with him and he with us. Wow! Are you ready to make your first holy Communion?

Coronavirus Update
To stay up-to-date on updates regarding the coronavirus and its impact, please visit our website: https://www.seasp.org/alerts

The US Bishops are urging all Catholics to respond to the coronavirus outbreak. We at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish invite you to pray with us.
Pray
Mass Intentions

What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone? An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons. For example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died.

Mass Intentions are always welcomed. We have many dates available. Please contact Kathy Lester at 319-393-3778 or klester@seasp.org if you would like more information or to request a date.
SHARE
A heartfelt thank you to parishioner Chris Robbins for sharing his talents by creating a beautiful Last Supper painting and donating it to our parish. The painting is hung in Seton Hall where we can enjoy it while sharing hospitality after Masses and at various events in the future. We are blessed as a parish by so many people sharing with us in countless ways. Thank you Chris!
X-Mas in June is Here!

Given the current environment with COVID-19, we are not going to be able to carry out St. Elizabeth's annual food drive like we have in the past. However, there are a lot of people in need in our community so we have modified our approach. First, we plan on donating the funds we would have used for the perishable items we buy for families to HACAP and MCO. Second, we have wishlists from HACAP and MCO on what their current needs are and are asking parishioners to participate in the following options:

MCO - Bring a bag of groceries in and place at the drop point just inside the church. Here are some ideas for this option: peanut butter and jelly, canned meat, spaghetti sauce, soup, spaghettiOs, canned fruit & vegetables, box potatoes, hamburger helper, rice, pasta or noodles, crackers or muffin mix, macaroni and cheese, cake or cookie mix, cereal.

HACAP - One of the primary needs they see from families at this time is for supplies at home to continue to work with their children on learning activities. Here are some ideas for this option: pencils and paper, markers, colored pencils, watercolor paints, play dough and some books. A cash donation committed to the Head Start Adopt-A-Classroom would accomplish the same thing and you can send a check to the HACAP Corporate Office and state in the memo the program and project you wish to support.

Food donations can be made as well and items should be non-perishable in non glass packaging. Canned fruits and protein items tend to be of greatest need.

Volunteer opportunities are also available through the Food Reservoir to assist with community food distributions and can be found via this website  https://www.hacap.org/how-to-help/volunteer/.  All donations (school supplies, food) can be dropped off at the HACAP Corporate office located at 1515 Hawkeye Drive in Hiawatha.

Every spring the Coalition For Life of Iowa looks forward to honoring all mothers and fathers. We were unable to honor our moms this year with long stemmed roses, so instead we put up three billboards around town for Mother’s Day in Cedar Rapids. Watch for our Happy Father’s Day billboards coming soon!

If you would like to donate towards our efforts to promote life, we would be so grateful. Please send any donation to: Coalition For Life of Iowa, PO Box 864, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406

LEARN
Summer 2020 Virtual Adult Faith Formation Opportunities

Since COVID-19 began, we have had to get creative at the parish in offering quality faith formation! This summer we will not be able to gather in person for adult formation, so we want you to gather with us virtually! On our ADULTS page, under the LEARN tab you will find 3 intentional faith formation offerings to do that! Look them over, try them all or pick one that meets your needs. We encourage you to keep growing your faith this summer through praying, learning, sharing and witnessing.  Reach out to Trish Lokmer: tlokmer@seasp.org with questions about any of the summer offerings.
We’ve all experienced our fair share of suffering during these past few months. So much about our lives has changed, and it hasn’t been easy. But through it all, one thing hasn’t changed: Jesus Christ is still with us and he loves us beyond measure. Each year teens have the opportunity to experience the Catholic faith at Steubenville Youth Conference. Like many things this year, the conference will look a little different. Instead of youth traveling, the conference will be coming to your home.  Steubenville Live will take place on July 17-18, 2020 virtually.  Please click on the link below to find out more about the weekend and to register your family.  Registration opens June 15th.
WITNESS
Baptism this Weekend

Congratulations to Hadley Marion Hazelton , daughter of Nicholas & Katlyn, as she joins our parish family through Baptism.
St. Elizabeth’s Widow/Widower Friends - Our group of friends is still staying connected throughout these unprecedented times through ZOOM.

If you are interested in joining a group of friends who have lost a spouse and gather to enjoy spending a little time together, please join us for our next gathering on Monday, June 15th for our 6:00 PM ZOOM time. This is just a nice way to get to know and visit with friends. If you interested in joining us on ZOOM send an email to Maureen at moe5240@aol.com or or call the parish office for more information.
Although we are beginning to open the church for public Masses, we will continue to schedule Baptisms individually outside of the Mass. If you would like more information on arranging a private baptism, please contact Kathy Lester in the Parish Office at klester@seasp.org or 319-393-3778.
