Where Do We Go This Week?

Join us for a really fun Sunday at St. E's! Don't forget to wear your costumes!

Our Church School classes will meet at 9:30 am upstairs and our lesson will be "The Greatest Commandment", based on our Gospel reading of Matthew 22:34-46. Grades 5-8 will have a "Breakfast and Believe" with waffles, sausage, and juice.

Parents will drop their children off at their classrooms at 9:30 am. Current classrooms and class volunteers are as follows:

PreK-1st Grade (next to nursery) - Deanna Hoffman, Heather Nobles, AJ Lorenz (Teen)

2nd- 4th Grade (across from nursery) - Melissa von Summer, Stacy Wilson, Evelyn Kern (Teen)

5th-8th Grades (1st class across from Conference Room) - Matt Botbyl, Alex Keane

,The church school classes will proceess into Big Church at the beginning of the service for a Blessing of the Costumes, then go to Children's Chapel following their class, and will join their parents in "big church" before the Offertory. It will be chaotic Halloween fun, so please have them in class ready to go at 9:30 am. Stick around afterwards for the Holy Ghost Weenie Roast after the service!

Class leaders are still needed, so please consider growing in faith along side your children. All materials and lessons are provided. Church School will not happen without leaders for classes. Please check the sign up for available dates. You don't have to volunteer in your child's class.

Nursery

We know that sitting in church can be challenging for some of our youngest kids. Children are joyful reminders that God is in our midst and are always welcome in worship. They belong right here among God's people. We have "pew bags" outside the Narthex with quiet activities for young children to interact with during the service but if you feel the need to step out with your child, our nursery is open on the second floor for babies through age 3 when we have Church School.

The Blessing Shelf

Please bring shelf stable food pantry donations for several local organizations during this month's donation drive for the Blessing Shelf. Traditionally, this time of year our Teen Outreach program conducts a food drive that provides donations to Ridgewood Social Services, Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, and New Hope Ministries and the Blessing Shelf donations for this cycle will support those efforts.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: Diocese of Newark Youth Scavenger Hunt at American Dream Mall for 6th grade and up will return this October. The St. E's Youth who attended two years ago had a great time, so we'll do it again! We will arrange for carpools and attend this event with our youth. Please RSVP to Beth and we will get those interested registered.

Children's Chapel

This week's Chapel story is "Love Is Here" By Mike Malbrough for the Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost.

Told through poetic and lyrical text and accompanied by lush watercolor illustrations, a child takes a magical journey in search of love, only to find that it lived everywhere, in everything, even in one's own backyard. A celebration of the interconnectedness of our lives and proof that love is all around you--if you look closely enough for it. Even when the world feels darkest, love is here.

"Love Is Here" reminds us that children often understand God’s love first by how they experience love in everyday life—through kindness, comfort, attention, and care. Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–39). This story invites families to see that love is not far away or complicated; love is here whenever we make room for God in our hearts and treat one another with compassion. As parents, we are helping our children recognize and share the love that comes from God.

Children through 7th Grade and their families are welcome in our Children's Chapel service following Church School. If your child would like to read the story, serve as crucifer, or read our prayers please let us know!
