Where Do We Go This Week?

We have a Family Service at 10 am this Sunday. We will hear two songs from our amazing Childrens and Youth Choirs!

There is no Church School on Family Sundays. We want our families to experience the entire service and enjoy coffee hour together.

Our Gospel reading is Matthew 22:15-22. In Jesus’ time government and religion were linked closely together. Jewish people were concerned about living in a worshipful and holy manner. They were at odds with the Roman government over many things, including the Romans’ belief that emperors were gods. The Pharisees (committed to God’s laws) and Herodians (fiercely loyal to King Herod) come to trap Jesus publicly. They were not really interested in asking a question about taxes. They wanted to see which set of laws (Jewish religious laws or Roman tax laws) Jesus would say were more important. Jesus goes beyond their trap, making his divine authority clear: we are to give to God the things that are God’s.

Why does this story matter for kids? Kids are familiar with the images on coins but may not be aware of the history of rulers, or government leaders, having their own images on currency as a symbol of their authority. Subject to the authority of their parents, teachers, coaches, and other caregivers, kids are aware that there are sometimes clashing authorities present in life. Jesus provides an answer to who has ultimate authority and influence over everyone made in the image of God, including us.

Youth Confirmation

meets at 4 pm on Sunday

We will review Chapters 1 and 2 of "My Faith, My Life" and be ready to discuss. Chapter 1 is titled "Baptism and Confirmation: Beginnings" and Chapter 2 is "The Bible: Stories about Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow".  Confirmands should bring their books and journals, and be ready to discuss!

Our confirmation program is for grades 8 and above. Please contact Beth for more information.

Class leaders are still needed, so please consider growing in faith along side your children. All materials and lessons are provided. Church School will not happen without leaders for classes. Please check the sign up for available dates. You don't have to volunteer in your child's class.

Join us for the Serve Together Ministry Fair during coffee hour following the Family Service on Sunday!
Come explore all the wonderful ways to get involved in the St. Elizabeth’s parish community. Whether you're looking to connect with others, enjoy some great fellowship, or find a place to serve, there truly is something for everyone. Come for the fun, stay for the community, and let's serve together!

Nursery

We know that sitting in church can be challenging for some of our youngest kids. Children are joyful reminders that God is in our midst and are always welcome in worship. They belong right here among God's people. We have "pew bags" outside the Narthex with quiet activities for young children to interact with during the service but if you feel the need to step out with your child, our nursery is open on the second floor for babies through age 5 when we not have Church School.

Our Attendant this Sunday is Akshara P

The Blessing Shelf

Please bring donations for OASIS, Ponds Community Food Pantry, and Wynona's House during this month's donation drive for the Blessing Shelf. OASIS has specifically requested snack sized bags of chips for their drive, and Ponds and Wynona's are both collecting new and used (in great condition) Halloween Costumes and coloring supplies.

This is our final Sunday for Costume collections!!
