Fr. Jason's Two Weeks in Review

June 11: Funeral service for Marjorie Goodrich; received news that June Bacon died early in the morning; service planning for John Duffy next week; finance meeting; vestry meeting; returned a phone call to Jon Voight.

June 12: Interment of Marjorie Goodrich’s ashes in Culver City; afterward Tom and I went to the La Brea Tar Pits and Trajo’s Tacos.

June 13: Took part in a music video starring Jon Voight as a repentant sinner; the video was filmed on the church grounds and in the church, and it was an interesting experience. Tom Shelby (my oldest child) was able to act as an assistant to the camera people, which was the perfect cap off to his time in California. Had dinner with wonderful friends that evening.

June 14: We woke up at 0330 to go to the airport to go to Indiana; flew direct from LAX to Chicago, where we rented a white Chrysler minivan, then drove to a farmhouse in Indiana five minutes from my parents.

June 15: Spent time with family.

June 16: Went to services in the church where I grew up, and had a good time visiting with people; lunch with family; Father’s Day dinner at my sister’s house, with five fathers in attendance. Ate WAY too much, and enjoyed being with my dad.

June 17: Spent time with family.

June 18: Spent time with family.

June 19: Shelby family art day at my parents’ house, a bi-yearly tradition. This year’s theme was, “Ouch!” Everyone in the family participated, and it was a wonderful day.

June 20: Last full day in Indiana, my brother-in-law made delicious, California-worthy tacos for dinner.

June 21: We drove to Chicago and dropped off our beautiful minivan rental, and then Jennifer and Rachel flew to LAX. Tom, Archie and I flew to Jackson, Mississippi, via Houston, and stayed the night at La Quinta.

June 22: Archie and I said goodbye to Tom, then flew to LAX via Houston. Archie sang many songs to many people and slept most of the second leg back.

June 23: Much to Archie’s chagrin we didn’t go anywhere, but stayed home and did laundry, napped, and griped about the heat in California.

June 24: Went to the office to do some admin work; met with the Senior Warden.

June 25: Caught up with local clergy; spent time with Jennifer without two to three children asking us for something and/or fighting.

June 26: Admin tasks; pastoral phone calls; staff meeting; healing service; admin meeting.
