Worship Service and Reception

Take some time during Lent to savor the peace and quiet of this contemplative service.

Wayfarer Chapel at St. Francis

As you know, the Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes is closed due to the high possibility of a landslide. Earlier this week I reached out to their rector, the Rev. Dr. David Brown, and offered his congregation the use of our chapel while they are without a place to worship. He gratefully accepted the offer, and they will begin worshiping in our chapel this Sunday, February 25, at 10:15 am. Their normal start time is 10:00 am, but we both thought it best to slightly stagger our services. They have been invited to join us for coffee and donut holes under the arches, and we are talking about doing joint ministry in the near future. Their service lasts about an hour, and our vestry person of the month will be able to lock up the chapel without having to wait around. They are using the space, our giant Bible, and the piano and keyboard; otherwise, they are bringing everything they will need with them. Please feel free to send me any questions or concerns you may have, and let us welcome our neighbors from across the hill.

Lenten Devotional

Enrich your Lenten practice with the St. Francis 2024 Lenten Devotional. The devotional contains reflections written by members and clergy of St Francis. Each day in Lent has a reflection based on the daily readings assigned by the Common Lectionary for the Lenten Season. The thoughtful reflections published in these booklets have been at the center of a Lenten practice for many in our community, and we hope that this year these writings will continue to challenge and inspire.
