Preparing for Sunday
St. Francis subscribes to a weekly service called Preparing for Sunday, which provides some brief commentary on the bible readings for the upcoming weeks. It can be found on the Sermons & Services page on the St. Francis website (https://tinyurl.com/sermonspage). I encourage all of you to consider looking at it prior to Sunday, particularly if you are a lector for the week.

If you would like your announcements to be included in this newsletter, or in the Sunday bulletin, please email them to the office at [email protected] by Tuesday evening (7:30 pm). Please include a contact person within the announcement in case there are questions. Announcements will run for two weeks or until the event takes place.
Play Ball!
Our own Jimmy Meisner will be playing the National Anthem at the Salem-Keizer Volcanos game on Sunday, July 10th at 1pm. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for anyone who would like to attend. We will get a block of St. Francis tickets. Tickets are $14 per person.
Ladies Lunch
Let’s Do Lunch is back with a new day! We hope you can join us on Tuesday, July 5th at 11:45am. We will meet at Abella Italian Kitchen. A head count is helpful so there is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex.

Backpack Buddies - Looking for Volunteers
As we reorganize the Backpack Buddies program we are looking for a team of six to eight consistent, regular volunteers to serve on a committee to provide much-needed weekend nutrition to school children with food insecurity in our local community. Children become part of the program based on guidance counselor recommendations in Wilsonville elementary and middle schools.

Volunteers needed:
2-3 Shoppers to purchase food/snacks - The monthly time commitment will vary depending on how the shoppers divide up the shopping list and their individual shopping methods.
4-6 Sorters/Packers - This is a once-a-month task that should take approximately two hours on a day and time that works best for those who volunteer.
1-2 Delivery Persons - This is a weekly task involving picking up the weekly food boxes from church and delivering them to our partner schools. The time commitment is approximately one hour per week. Peggy Danford has been our delivery person and is willing to continue in this role, but it would be excellent to have a backup for her.

In addition to these regular tasks, the committee will meet twice a year to review how things are going and to welcome new ideas and suggestions to keep the program vibrant. If you are seeking a ministry that fills a local need, utilizes your gifts, and brings joy, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

To volunteer and/or obtain additional information, please contact Elizabeth Ferguson at [email protected].
All Parish Breakfast - July 10
Mark your calendars for our next breakfast gathering. The Guy's Night Out group will be hosting breakfast between services.
Come Garden With Us!
St. Francis Memorial Gardens need your help to stay beautiful all summer, plus gardening is good for your soul! Please join us on July 2nd at 10am. Bring your favorite garden tool if you have one, maybe some gloves if you value clean hands, and join the Memorial Gardens Committee as we do a little garden maintenance! There will be coffee or iced tea and lots of fun. Prior experience and tools are unnecessary! We’re happy to give you service credit, gardening lessons, or just dirty hands and knees — or all of the above — your choice! If you’d like more information, contact Terri Hoffmann, [email protected] or 503-982-4825.

Gals Nite Out is coming back!
All St. Francis women are invited to Gals Night Out on July 14th. More information to come!
Women on Their Own - Coffee Meet Up
Women on Their Own will meet for coffee on Wednesdays at 10am at B's Bakery in Canby (113 2nd St., between Grant and Ivy). This is a weekly event, so please come when you can.

Parish Outreach
Help for Ukraine
There are several ways that you can help the people of the Ukraine: Episcopal Relief and Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund, https://www.episcopalrelief.org/product/ukraine-crisis-response/; St. Francis Outreach, which will also be making contributions to agencies providing humanitarian relief in the Ukraine; and local Oregon NGO MercyCorps’ Ukraine Crisis Fund, https://www.mercycorps.org/donate/crisis-ukraine-give-now?source=P2BWPMSTOPEZZ0303221&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=MC_UKR_crisis&msclkid=c607275ecc181cda5490456da10babfb
Wilsonville Food Bank
They need peanut butter and storable fresh fruit such as apples and oranges. NO CEREAL, please. You can drop off your donations to the church. A volunteer takes the food to the Food Bank every Tuesday.
Thank you all for helping with this important need!
