Preparing for Sunday
St. Francis subscribes to a weekly service called Working Preacher, which provides some brief commentary on the bible readings for the upcoming weeks. It can be found on the Sermons & Services page on the St. Francis website (https://tinyurl.com/sermonspage). I encourage all of you to consider looking at it prior to Sunday, particularly if you are a lector for the week.

Continuity & Change at St. Francis
Notice is Hereby Given That the Annual Meeting of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church has been designated by the Vestry to be held on Sunday February 22, 2026, at 12 noon in the Parish Hall.
If we have positions to be voted on at the Annual Meeting, the question becomes relevant, “who can vote?” By Canons and the Bylaws, voting members are baptized people at least 16 years old who have been active in this congregation for at least six months. In preparation for the Annual Meeting, the upcoming Parochial Report, and the Parish Profile, Jodi and I are working on updating membership information. We need your help. Please review your Online Directory information: are your addresses and phone number current? Is the list of your ministries current? Please update. Do you have a picture on your profile? These are very helpful, especially to newcomers, and become even more important as our congregation grows. If you have a nice current photo, please add it! And if you know of someone who is in our directory who is no longer active in the congregation – perhaps they moved – please send an email to Jodi at saintfranciswilsonville@gmail.com. Thank you for your help in keeping St. Francis current and inviting!
Faithfully yours,
Jaime+

Updates from the Junior Warden
Our new AED was installed this week by Cintas. It will be professionally maintained on a monthly basis. We will be scheduling CPR training for anybody who is interested. The dates are TBD. Contact Arnie Myhra (504-352-1175) for more information.
We have had several questions about our lighting. After some investigation, we have all LED lighting here at St. Francis.

Small Dinner Groups 2026
It’s time to sign up for this year’s small dinner groups. This is an opportunity to meet the great people of St. Francis with whom you share Sunday mornings. The groups are made up of couples and singles who meet on a schedule decided upon by your group. Dinners are typically potluck meals in your homes, but you can be creative and meet at a restaurant or whatever you decide. Typical group size is eight people, but if you would prefer a group of six, please note that on the sign-up sheet. Groups will be selected by the end of February. There are so many interesting people in our St. Francis family - here is your opportunity to hear their stories. Don’t miss out on the fun! Questions? Contact Nyla Emory at 503 539-1857 or Nylaemory@mac.com or Lynne Tucker at 503 704-3344 or tuckerfamily@onlinenw.com.

What would you like to see next in our Gallery Shows?
This last year was an exciting year for our Narthex Gallery Ministry. Hopefully, these shows have helped us to get to know one another a little better as every show participant (42 in all) was a member of our Parish Family. These shows featured artists, designers, crafters, photographers, plus some other unique and previously unknown talents. There were pictorial stories of five who have walked a Camino. And some narratives told of personal and memorable Christmas experiences of the past.
Coming up, there will be a meeting to gather the thoughts of all as to what to do next. This meeting (open to all) will take place at 9:10 am, Sunday, February 1, in the large Parish Hall room. Those who cannot attend may forward their suggestions to Ministry Chair, Gary Thompson, who will share these suggestions with all in attendance at this meeting. Also, at this meeting there will be an invitation for someone to become the next Chair - the current Chair would like to retire.

Adult Formation: Theological Diversity Within St. Francis and the Broader Church
We will NOT MEET this Sunday. Class will resume on February 1.
Have you ever found that a hymn your friend loves leaves you cold? Are there sermons that speak to you and others that repel you? Do you find others in the church making assumptions about “what we all believe,” or “what church is for,” that leave you out? Using W. Paul Jones’ model of “Five Theological Worlds,” Mother Jaime will explore diverse theologies within our “one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic church.” Participants in this class will be given the opportunity to identify their own theological worlds and gain a greater appreciation for others’ within the church. Members of the Vestry and the two Transition Committees are particularly encouraged to participate in this class. Books are not required.
Class meets from 9:15 to 10:15 am on the Sundays after the Epiphany, January 11 through February 15, 2026.

William Temple House
Update: The St. Francis congregation provided ten van loads of donations to the William Temple House Thrift Store last year!
As we continue through 2026, please continue to donate clothing, electronics, furniture, and household goods so William Temple House can provide counseling services, food, and other items to those in need. Thank you!
Cold weather items including blankets, sleeping bags, and warm clothing are especially needed now; please consider donating any of these items if you are no longer using them. Again, thank you.

Wilsonville Food Bank
Thank you St. Francis for the generosity in food donations over the past two months. The challenges of feeding our neighbors remains; your thoughtful kindness has helped and is much appreciated. Please continue to rise to the challenge of bringing at least one item of food each month. Our neighbors will continue to need assistance throughout the year. Thank you so very much!
