Easter Flower Contributions
“Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (PS. 29:2)
‘Beauty’ helps set awe and wonder as the context for liturgy.
The Altar Guild has an important responsibility in making the worship space beautiful. Flowers are symbolic of our joy in Christ and will be used to express this joy and beauty at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Day.
The Altar Guild is accepting contributions for the Easter Flowers for 2021 beginning Sunday, March 14. Please fill out a special Easter flower contribution envelope or put ‘Easter Flowers’ on the memo line of your check and place it in the alms basin or turn it into the church office by March 29 for acknowledgement in the Easter bulletin.
You can also use our online flower signup: click here
Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
The Festival of the Resurrection of Our Lord is considered the "Queen” of all Christian festivals with beautiful flowers adorning the church sanctuary and narthex in celebration. The Altar Guild is responsible for these decorations, and very much welcomes the help of all the happy hands that want to participate in these creations. The Cross, font, Paschal Candle, sconces, narthex altar, and Memorial Garden gate are all decorated for the celebration of this Festival Day.
We will be following Covid precautions. If you are interested in helping, please contact one of us, and we can help you pick out one of the above projects, and then on the decoration day, Easter Saturday, we will have you in a separate area with the space, guidelines and flowers you will need. We very much need your help, but please let us know ahead of time if you can be there.
Work time is April 3, at 9:00 am.
Many thanks.

Mt. Angel Stations of the Cross
Saturday, March 13 at 1:00 pm
Tuesday, March 23 at 1:00 pm
Please meet in the St. Francis parking lot.
Walking the Stations of the Cross at Mt. Angel Abbey
Please meet in the St. Francis parking lot on Saturday, March 13 at 1:00 pm, and/or Tuesday, March 23 at 1:00 pm. We can then travel together to the Abbey.
Walking the Stations of the Cross is a very old custom of walking from 1 to the next of 14 images (“Stations”) which depict Jesus on the day of his crucifixion as he walked from Pilate’s court to Mt. Calvary. At each Station we pause for a period of prayer.
This is an outdoor walk and is very different than doing the Stations inside the church. It is often cool and maybe wet. It is also a longer, uphill, walk. These more challenging conditions make us more aware, perhaps, of the suffering of Jesus.
Masks and social distancing will be required. For information contact Dcn. Ken Russell, 503-887-5587 or kenrus60@gmail.com
There will also be a service of the Stations of the Cross following the noon Good Friday service in the nave.

Palm Sunday Preparations
Passion Sunday, March 28, is a mixture of triumph and tragedy, observing Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem and his death on the cross. Palms are used to adorn the church sanctuary, and palm fronds are used upon the pilgrimage to the church. Palm crosses are available for people to take with them as a reminder of the meaning of the day.
You are invited to help in this preparation for Palm Sunday on Saturday, March 27, at 9:00 am in the Parish Hall.
We’d like to have anyone who wants to make crosses e-mail us so we know how many to allow for and can setup accordingly. Masks are required and social distancing will be followed.
Thank you for sharing in this meaningful preparation to Holy Week.

Morning Prayer in Lent is a sweet practice that we’ve been sharing at St. Francis for over a decade, brought to us by Fr. Tony as "7 at 7". We meet in the parish hall on weekday mornings at 7:00 am and say Morning Prayer together as we watch the sun rise. This year we will be appropriately distanced, but the scripture and prayers will be covid-free and wonder-full. Please join us! If you would like prayers said for any person or purpose, call or email Terri Hoffmann (thoffmann@web-ster.com) or

Lenten Devotions
Welcome to Lent, a time when we are invited to pay closer attention to our Christian journeys, and to be mindful of what God might hope for us every day. To help you along or to jumpstart your journey, we have some wonderful resources for you to choose from!
• Are you intrigued by journey after a year of covid? Try ‘Are We There Yet’, with daily stories of journeys toward wholeness, near and far.
• Do you hear and mark the invitation at the end of worship to serve God with gladness and singleness of heart? You might like ‘With Gladness’, with five weeks of simple practices that shift perspective for our everyday lives.
• Do you love the ancient Sarum Prayer? Choose ‘God be in my Head’, with daily meditations on the prayer that was created to bring us closer to God.
• Maybe you’d prefer ‘A Path to Wholeness’ that uses stories to bring the Gospel to life and enrich our lives.
• Are you interested in better using your senses to build a better awareness of yourself and your relationship with God? You might like ‘Sense and Sensibility’!
All of these books will be available at the church for you to pick up, or we can send or deliver one to you. If you would like to contribute toward the cost of the books, we’d be delighted; however, the books are available to you regardless. Contact Terri Hoffmann to reserve your choice, or look them all over at church any time. Have a blessed Lent.
