The Secret to Student Success at St. Francis High School
|
You’ve probably heard the question: “What makes St. Francis High School different?” Students come here and truly go further, but what’s the reason? While it may seem effortless, the exceptional experience at SFHS is a unique formula, one that’s difficult for other schools to replicate. Here’s a glimpse at the key ingredients behind St. Francis High School's success:
-
Exceptional Ingredients Take Education to New Heights: SFHS boasts prestigious recognition, starting with the Exemplary High Performing Blue Ribbon School Award, earned by only 1% of U.S. schools. Add to that the Microsoft Showcase School honor, and you have something truly distinctive. SFHS is the only high school in the country to receive both awards in the same year. This combination guarantees an enriching academic experience, with educators who are trained to help each student excel and technology that caters to all learning styles.
-
Time-Honored Approaches Still Matter: While high performance is key, St. Francis High School also recognizes the importance of nurturing each student's unique potential—both as a scholar and as a child of God. The school encourages students to embrace their inherent worth while fostering a joyful and supportive community. By weaving Franciscan values into everyday routines, we cultivate personal growth and spiritual development.
-
A Customized Approach Helps Students Shine: At SFHS, students receive not just exceptional guidance, but also the chance to select courses that align with their strengths and aspirations. By examining our academic structure, you’ll see how SFHS tailors each student’s four-year journey, preparing them with the experiences needed for success in college admissions and beyond.
This is The St. Francis Way, and we’d love for you to explore it for your student. Spring is a great time to tour or schedule a shadow visit. Reach out to set up a visit or admissions conversation—we can’t wait to meet you soon!

The Catholic Advantage: Focused Attention for Every Student |
Catholic schools are proud to support parents who seek the highest quality academic instruction for their children. Academic excellence is at the core of a Catholic education. With an average student-to-teacher ratio of 16:1, which makes SFHS truly a medium-sized school, an SFHS education is tailored, relevant, and designed to foster the success of each student.
Our experienced faculty members truly know their students, challenging them to perform their best across a diverse and rigorous curriculum. Teachers act as mentors, guiding students from freshman year all the way through to graduation.
What are the teachers like?
Passionate. Caring. Dedicated. Resourceful. Committed. Engaging. At SFHS, our educators are experts in their fields—and they take the time to understand and connect with their students.
Why is a medium-sized school the ideal choice?
- SFHS combines the best of both worlds: the close-knit feel of a small school with the resources and opportunities of a larger institution.
- SFHS offers an extensive range of academic courses, enhanced by small class sizes for a more personalized experience.
- With a wealth of extracurricular activities, SFHS provides students with countless opportunities to get involved—without feeling lost in a crowd.
- A Catholic education is unique in its emphasis on community. Every aspect of what we do revolves around how we can best serve our students.

What does ATTENTION at SFHS mean to you?
|
“Attention presents itself in many ways at St. Francis High School. You can see it in the halls every day as you watch students meet in between classes to connect with each other. You can see it in the classrooms where the teachers create a comfortable learning environment that encourages the collaboration and attentiveness of students. Personally, the place where attention means the most to me is out in the community. As a Varsity Basketball player, some of my favorite memories came from after-school hours, where students and teachers show up to support their fellow Spartans. This attentiveness is one of the truly special qualities of SFHS as it allows us to create lifelong bonds with not just our peers but our teachers and faculty as well.” – Kris T. ’25 (St. Phillip the Apostle)
|
“At SFHS, attention is more than creating relationships with your pears and teachers. It's about investing in yourself and growing as both a student and an individual. SFHS, creates a place of attention by allowing students to explore, ask questions, and thrive in a safe learning environment.” – Oliver H. ’26 (All Saints Catholic Academy)
|
“Personally, attention at SFHS is strongly supported by teachers and coaches. Before I came to St. Francis, teachers were not as focused on our growth, but now I feel supported by many, and I have been given attention throughout my years I have been here.” – Elena M. ’27 (Geneva Middle School South)
