Inquirers' Gathering- Sunday, March 8th at noon. If you are new (or not-so-new) to St. Francis, you are invited to join us on Sunday after regular Hospitality Hour, to get to know one another and see how we can support your walk of faith. Come with any questions for an informal exchange.

We are sad to hear that our delightful new Parish Administrator, Chloe Evans, will be leaving us and return to GA. We are grateful to have had her back in our community and send her with our love and prayers!

A schedule of hours and a list of volunteer duties is being formed to assist until a new administrator can be found.

Preparing Well: Conversations for the End of Life

This year's Lenten Learning will be a series of presentations and discussions that concern mortality, and help us better prepare for our own or loved ones' death. As Christians, we need not fear death, as we have been assured of the Resurrection to new life. These conversations can help us with our own end-of-life care, or that of loved ones.

Meet in the church at 5:30pm for worship together, then join us for a light supper and presentation. Guests are welcome!

Please sign up or call the church office to RSVP to allow a count for dinner.

•  On March 4, Lenten Learning continues with a presentation by Shelley Wintz from Pinnacle Home Health Care on Facts and Myths about Palliative Care and Hospice. Learn what these services are, how they are available, and to whom. We will discuss Insurance coverage for both levels of care and what exactly is offered at each level, i.e. medical equipment, visits from the interdisciplinary team, medical, emotional and spiritual care.

March 11 will cover Legal and Financial Concerns at End-of-Life, including Wills and Bequests

On March 18 we will examine our resources and put together a plan for a funeral.

We will wrap up the series on March 25 with a presentation, Live Your Life Now!

Plan on joining us! Worship at 5:30 pm, Soup Supper at 6pm with presentations to follow! RSVP, please. Click here or call the office 225-665-2707

Many thanks to our Lenten Learning guest speaker Becky Williams for her presentation on The Five Wishes and all who contributed to the lovely meal, and to the success of the evening!

Kairos #54 will be held in April at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women. St. Francis has always been a generous supporter of this powerful Christian ministry to incarcerated people. The 3 ½ day weekends depend on donations to cover all the costs of food and materials for the participants and lodging for the volunteers.

Kairos #54 will be led by a wonderful woman, Jacquie Prielipp who was my sponsor on my first weekend years ago.

If you would like to make a financial donation, you can mail a check or money order made payable to “KPMI” (Kairos Prison Ministry International) to

Jacquie Prielipp

I will be attending the team meeting on Saturday, March 7th, and could personally deliver your donation on that day.

Participants receive a dozen homemade cookies each day as a visible sign of Christ’s love. Each volunteer will need to provide 40 dozen cookies baked by friends, family or church members. If you would like to be a baker, please carefully review the rules here or call me.

We also would love to receive art work from children. Most of the women in prison are mothers and/or grandmothers. They love receiving artwork from children. There are rules (no stickers, glue or glitter) and we ask that you put the child's first name and age on the drawing. These can be original drawings or colored pages from a coloring book. A simple, positive message such as "God Loves You" means a lot!

If you have any questions about Kairos, I will be happy to answer them for you. It is an amazing program that helps build strong Christian communities inside maximum security prisons. When participants are released from prison they are much less likely to ever return there.

Thanks for your consideration,

Dolly Williams
