Interim Word
A promise for the coming year....

As your new Interim Rector, I'm still finding my bearings about the place. Just today, I realized that I haven't made it into the Gift Shop yet, and that's going to have to go up a notch or two on my To-do List. And while I have, I'm hoping that you may have heard about my coming to St. Francis refrain.

I'm convinced that there are three things that God has put us on this earth to do. As children, we have fun, we learn and we help one another. But when we grow into adults, we discover that our tasks in life reorder themselves. Our goals in life should be to help one another, to learn, and to have fun. My hope and prayer, as we begin our time together, is that in the coming year we are able to help one another, are able to learn and grow closer to our creator, and, finally, that we are able to have some fun.

I've been blessed already to be with our Solice group twice, and it clearly encompassed all of the three!  While the world may sometimes seem like it is a big and scary place, I'm also pretty convinced that we are always able to fulfill our mission in life if we focus on our strengths.  Let's help one another, learn a bit, and have some fun!

Fr. David.

The cost is $40 and includes lunch. You may

Upcoming Diocesan Youth Events

April 13-15
: Happening

Happening provides a method through which one's spirituality may be developed, nourished, lived, and shared in fellowship. Those attending Happening (high school student and adults) listen to thought-provoking and challenging talks given by members of the youth staff and clergy. These talks are designed to help the participants to get to know God. After each talk, the opportunity is given for questions and discussion in small groups. Register
HERE.

April 13-15
: Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.)

A Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.) weekend brings together members of the 6th-8th grade youth of the Diocese of Texas as a Christian community. The focus is on "who Christ is." Y.E.S. helps foster a clearer appreciation of self, richer relationships with others, and a deeper experience with Jesus. The weekend is designed to provide an atmosphere of openness where participants can ask questions and have the freedom to explore answers without fear of judgment. Music and games are a very important part of the weekend.
  REGISTER HERE.

July 22-27 : Missionpalooza

Join multiple EDOT parishes for our annual mission trip. This summer we are continuing our disaster relief efforts in the Coastal Bend area of the Diocese of West Texas. Participant ages range from rising 7th graders through graduating seniors.
Email Stephanie Townes with interest or questions. stownes@epicenter.org

A
lmighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer During this Time of Transition - As we
continue the work of listening to God to discover
His desires for St. Francis, let us pray:
Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth, with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer Page 816)
Ongoing Ministries

TUESDAY SOLACE: Tuesday Solace is a free service supporting families affected by Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and takes place from 1:00 -4:00pm at the Parish Hall. Allowing caregivers respite time, the program provides music and singing, fun, social activities, and loving care to the participants.

FEED MY SHEEP SACK MEALS (FMS):  On the 2nd Sunday of each month, all are invited to gather in the Parish after the 9:30am service to prepare 100 sack lunches for our neighbors who have limited access to food. The lunches are delivered to Feed My Sheep. Our next scheduled sack meal preparation is
Sunday, April 8 .

CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for March 2018 will be Canned Vegetables. Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 8:30am before we sing at the 9:30am service. So come join us!
