Dear beloved,
This week, I want to address something near and dear to every church-going Episcopalian: Coffee Hour.
Yes, I mean that sacred, holy, occasionally chaotic time involving folding tables, children scrambling for the last chocolate-chip cookie, and the unmistakable scent of coffee drifting through the church.
Coffee Hour is not an “extra thing.” It is an extension of our Sunday communal worship. What begins at the altar in the breaking of the Bread continues as we break bagels and muffins together. The unity we share in Christ does not end with the dismissal. It spills into conversation, into laughter, into the gentle grace and joy of welcoming new faces. It is often at Coffee Hour that a visitor becomes a friend, and a friend becomes part of our church family.
For several years now, just a couple of faithful souls have carried the bulk of arranging and setting up Coffee Hour every Sunday. And I’ve heard (with love and gratitude) that they need a break — or at least some reinforcements.
This is where you come in.
If you would be willing to help set up or clean up Coffee Hour through the spring – or even pick up our weekly tray of bagels and muffins at LaRocca’s on your way to church – I hope you’ll use the sign-up link below. (We'll provide easy instructions for every one who signs up for Coffee Hour Duty.)
