Embodying God's love by building community through worship, inclusivity, and outreach.

Hello, Friends of St Francis!

Here's another uplifting video about St Francis - this time, John C shares more of his reflections on what it means to be part of our parish community. Click to watch Video.

Outreach - We Need Your Input!

The Outreach Committee will again be inviting local nonprofit organizations that serve the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the Stamford community to apply for small grants. Please contact Patricia Lydon by Sept 20 if you have an organization you would like to add to the list being considered: patricia.ann.lydon@gmail or call her at (203) 253-7741.

Mid-Week Meditation

At one of our Prayer Shawl zoom get-togethers, Terry M mentioned a free app called Merlin Bird ID. It 'listens' to the birds around you and gives you real-time suggestions as to who’s singing. If you're not a birder, this is the app for you! More than that, you might just find that it helps you focus on an aspect of nature that you never really paid much attention to . . . and find more peace and calm in the world around you.

In the book, Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer weaves Indigenous wisdom, science, and personal reflection to show the natural world as a gift calling for gratitude, care, and reciprocity.

This is not meant to be a book recommendation (although it's certainly a wonderful book!). The book references The Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address which is a daily invocation of gratitude that honors the natural world and all living beings, reflecting their commitment to giving thanks every day and recognizing life’s interconnectedness. A good message for all of us who inhabit this amazing planet! Click to read

The Week in Media

A BIG thank you to Rev Armando Ghinaglia for filling in for Rev Linda Spiers this past Sunday at the 10:00 AM Service. Referencing the very difficult gospel for the day, Armando's sermon gave us a lot to think about. Listen by clicking Sermon.

Shortly after the Service, Julia Gmeiner and Jim Fredericks performed in a special concert . . . and Richard Weidlich got into the act too! If you were unable to attend, select songs from the performance will be available in next week's email.
