Quote of the Week. . .

Food for Thought. . .
We are in the midst of the stewardship season.  Margery Irish started us off this past Sunday with her reflection on "What St. Francis Means to Me."  Worth the read. . .

Back around the turn of the thirteenth century, maybe 1201, I think I remember dating Giovanni Bernadone, the man who was to become St Francis.  I subsequently learned that due to many experiences, he turned his life around in favor of simplicity, poverty, generosity and a total allegiance to Christ.

Francis, the Saint, has held a draw and strong fascination for me, and when I traveled to Assisi in 1993, for the first time, I was deeply moved.   To read more, click here. . .

I attended a Clergy Day this past week where the focus was, "Grace in an Age of Anxiety."  A good thing to consider always.  The presenter showed the following clip from NBC's The Good Place.  Some of the items that are raised are funny.  The unfortunate thing is that what they playfully portray is how many think about religion.  With the "life score" pressure of this paradigm, there is little room for grace.  May we discard the life score and live more fully into the grace. . .

Thank you, Jane Lazgin, for passing on this interesting piece from the New York Times on the role of religion and politics among Evangelicals. . .
