Embodying God's love by building community through worship, inclusivity, and outreach.

Hello, Friends of St Francis!

This week's email celebrates the Miles for a Mission 5K Run/Walk and Dogapolooza Event! We partnered with Fairgate Farm to raise over $30,000 with proceeds going directly to the Farm.

Curious about the MFM process? Planning began in February to identify potential beneficiaries in collaboration with our Outreach Committee. Applications were sent out, reviewed, and Fairgate Farms was unanimously chosen.

Our race committee (Co-chairs Cindy and Claudia as well as Margie, Cathy, Linda Q, Joe B, Dawn R) began meeting in April. Joe B visited so many potential businesses to find sponsors. This year we had over 55 sponsors who gave money, gift cards, or in-kind support. Six of our parishioners asked friends and family to donate to the race; those five individuals collectively raised over $12,000. We are blessed that so many of you contributed to a fundraiser.

During our monthly meetings, we discussed sponsors, permits, police, porta-potties, t-shirts, timing, volunteers, dog events, marketing, inventory, and so much more! The t-shirts were ordered in early September and arrived on the Thursday before race day. On Saturday, we, along with volunteers, packed t-shirts, set up hospitality and t-shirt pick-up and registration stations, and cleared the path from Echo Hill. We prepared the Dogapolooza space and hung banners and flags.

On race day we were ready, with your help, to welcome Farmers Pete and Liz as well as over 96 participants and other guests!

Each year we hope for good weather and are appreciative of you, the volunteers, donors, sponsors, and participants who attend the event. It really takes a village, a lot of teamwork, faith (in each other, our partner, and our community), a sense of humor, and God's guiding hand and spirit. Thank you!

We welcome new members to our MFM committee. If you would like to join our team for next year, please let Dawn R know.

Excellent Offer on Oil from Mitchell for St. Francis Parishioners

Thank you to Dom Gautrau, who sent us the following message: As many of you are aware, Mitchell Oil has been successfully servicing our oil and propane needs over the last few years. In addition to the three church buildings, they have also made discounts ($.10 per gallon) available to any parishioner who uses their service. This year they are offering a $.20 per gallon discount for a fixed price contract of $3.099 per gallon to all of St. Francis. Plus, there are additional discounts for prepay. If you are interested, please contact our Mitchell representative, Tim Rescigno, at twr@nemitchell.com, or 203 297-2990 to discuss your needs for propane or oil. Tim has been overseeing our account since the beginning and is a pleasure to work with. This is a good time to lock in your heating price for the upcoming season!

Thank you to Mitchell Oil for being a sponsor of MFM for several years!
