Dear St. George-ans:
Grace and Peace to You!
I hope you received my note in the mail, written to all of you as I prepare to go on vacation in July. Hopefully, it will be a time of rest and respite for us all.
I wanted to introduce you to the clergy who will be filling in for me while I am away. Photos and short bios of each of them, along with the dates they will be serving, are below.
My prayer for each of you is a safe, healthy and joyous summer.
Blessings and Love,
Rev. Pat
P.S.: If you have any questions, please contact me. If there is a pastoral emergency or concern, contact Rose in the office or senior warden Joyce Swaving.

The Rev. Valerie Hart will be serving at St. George's on Sunday, July 3.
She was born in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio and went to school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she received an undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. As a psychologist she specialized in stress related disorders. She moved with her family to the San Francisco Bay Area where she taught graduate classes in transpersonal psychology, experienced a call to the priesthood and received an MDiv from CDSP in Berkeley.
After twenty years of active ministry, first as the vicar of a small mission east of San Francisco and then as the rector of a parish on the central coast of California she retired. She was professed as a Third Order Franciscan (TSSF) in 2018 and now lives in Tustin where she enjoys her grandchildren, writing and providing supply on Sundays at churches in the area.

The Rev. Canon Ray Fleming will be serving at St. George's on two Sundays, July 10 & 17.
Ray Fleming was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and was ordained a priest Dec. 17, 1966 in the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois.
He has served congregations in several states, including Norwalk, Connecticut, before moving here in Southern California.
He has served as the rector of Holy Faith Church in Inglewood for 13 years, and also served as rector of St. Mary's Church in Laguna Beach before he retired and joined St. George's as a parishioner and sometime supply priest.
Fr. Ray is known for his preaching style -- especially pacing up and down as he talks. He is married to Marcia, and they have grown two daughters, Pam and Holly, and several grandchildren.
We are excited to see Ray and Marcia back with us after the pandemic!

The Rev. Rob Bethancourt will be serving at St. George's on July 24.
He is a native of Arizona. He completed his bachelor degree at Arizona State University and a Master of Divinity at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley.
Ordained originally in the diocese of Northern California, he has been canonically resident in the Diocese of Los Angeles since 1983.
He is Rector Emeritus of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Fullerton. He is married with two adult children. In addition to his work as an Episcopal priest, Fr. Rob is also a musician, composer, and recording engineer.
He has written and produced several albums of music including "He is the Light", "Mr. Noah's Fabulous Floating Zoo", “Let the Children Come”, and “Emmanuel: God With Us”--a musical setting for the Eucharist.
He frequently leads retreats and conferences and is particularly interested in teaching practical ways of helping people deepen their spiritual lives. He was Dean of Deanery 9 for 12 years, a priest at Emmanuel for 34 years and involved in ordained ministry for 44 years. His other interests include art, music, tennis, hiking, scuba diving, and flying. Not too long ago he hiked the Camino de Santiago as a pilgrimage and is looking forward to the next camino of life during this season of retirement.

The Rev. Norma Guerra will be serving at St. George's on July 31.
She has served on the staff of the Diocese of Los Angeles as associate for formation and transition since Dec. 1, 2020. As a team member in the Office of Transition and Formation Ministry, she plays a key role in helping to guide those seeking or discerning a call to ordained ministry.
Born in Guatemala, she is the daughter of retired Bishop of Guatemala Armando Guerra Soria, who also served as the Presiding Bishop of Central America.
She has served as associate priest at both the Church of the Messiah in Santa Ana, and St. Clement's Church in San Clemente.
A life-long Episcopalian, Guerra was born in Guatemala City and came to the United States in March 2000. She became a member of All Saints Church in Pasadena, where she worked on staff for eight of her 15 years as a parishioner, assisting in several departments and with the congregation’s Spanish-language liturgy. She has served an interpreter and translator for both local and denominational ministries, and in recent years she has participated as a presenter in the Episcopal Latino Ministry Competency Program.
Guerra is “passionate about multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion.” She is mother to teenager Nicholas.
