Presbyterians in Egypt: A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness - Sign Up Now

It all began here, as the Ibis sailed up and down the Nile in 1863, training pastors and planting churches in villages along the way. From these humble beginnings, the Evangelical Presbyterian Seminary in Cairo (ETSC) has grown into a training ground for gospel ministry to Arabic-speakers throughout the world, including our own Sister Church's pastor, Abdelmassih! If you would like to know more, Keith and Sarah will share about their recent trip to ETSC in the History Room after worship on May 24. Box lunches from Jason’s Deli will be available for $7, but must be reserved before the end of the day on Wednesday, May 20th by emailing Sarah at sarah@webhills.net

TIME TO LIVE- Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Join us for the “Time‑To‑Live Breast Cancer Awareness Walk” on Sunday, June 7th. The walk is from 11:00am – 2:00pm, with walkers starting at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

This is not a 5–10K walk and it is not a fundraiser. It is a door-to-door awareness walk focused on distributing cancer‑survival information.

This year, the walk is rooted in North Highland Park. We intentionally choose predominantly Black and poor communities because these neighborhoods face the highest cancer death rates in the country often due to late diagnoses, limited access to screening, and longstanding mistrust of the healthcare system.

We will meet at Six Points Innovation Center, for a brief training session before going out. 3001 Meadowbridge Rd. Richmond, VA 23222.

Please register in advance. https://timetolivewalk.wixsite.com/time-to-live/join-the-walk

Redemptive Conversations Training

Have you ever left a conversation (with a church friend, spouse, child, neighbor, employee), wishing you had listened a little more? Or asked a few more questions? Or connected a little more meaningfully? In this seminar, we will consider how human beings are made to connect, and how both our desires and our fears in this regard all point to the magnificent biblical truth that we bear God's image. We will explore what dynamics in conversation lead to more openness and authenticity, and what habits (even well-meaning ones) can actually get in the way of what we want most. Interspersed with personal and professional examples, this teaching is designed to encourage and equip you to connect in conversations of all kinds.

We are excited to have Lisa Ould with us and facilitating this training. She is the executive director and founder of The Barnabas Center, a Christian Counseling and Training ministry in Richmond. This will be a rich time of growing together. Join us on Wednesday evenings, May 13 and May 20, 6:30-8:00 pm in Patterson.

If you would like to reserve a boxed meal, please email Elizabeth by May 11th at elizabeth@stgiles.org. We gather at 6 pm to eat together; the cost is $ 10 per box.

Childcare is available if needed. Please email Elizabeth to coordinate.
