Celebrating St. Giles’ Early History: Outpourings of the Spirit

by Art Thomas

This Sunday we will have a celebration of Art Thomas' recently published history of St. Giles! A free copy (one per family) of each of the first two volumes will be available for St. Giles' Covenant Partners (the third volume is still in production).

Following our usual 10:30 AM worship, we’ll enjoy a light lunch in Patterson. Remember, please, to bring a GENEROUS platter of finger food to share (sandwiches, ham biscuits, fruit or vegetable tray, cheese & crackers, cookies, etc.), as we will have many out-of-town guests with us! Contact Jo White to let her know you can bring food: 804- 937-6836 or joeloisewhite@gmail.com

We'll move back to the sanctuary at 12:45 for short talks given by Art Thomas and descendants of Blanton Belk, Earl Morey, and Louis Skidmore.

Besides bringing food, there are other ways you can help!

  • A few people are needed to help with setup before worship,
  • A few people are needed to direct interested folks to the History Room, where Melissa Sleeth will give overviews of the church's history during the lunch hour.
  • All of us can be good hosts by encouraging people back to the sanctuary after lunch, so that the program can begin promptly at 12:45!

Art Thomas will sign books. People can bring books they have already purchased to be signed and he will have books to sell to those who are not members or those who want an extra copy.

Art has given us a wonderful gift through this labor of love. Invite your friends, and enjoy the celebration!

Wednesday Night Dinner is still on for tomorrow!

We are excited to gather back for our weekly fellowship dinner and life groups this Wednesday! The snow and ice have been cleared, and our parking lots are ready for you. we want everyone to stay safe, so please be careful, watch your step and be mindful of any slick spots as you join us tomorrow.

Thank you for your prayers and support!

This Saturday our “Egypt Team” returned from an incredible trip with our sister church: "Second Evangelical Church in Haram.” We will be taking time in a future Sunday service to share more about our trip, but a couple of highlights are:

  • We were able to see over 500 patients in our 3-day clinic in the church, including both Christians and Muslims.
  • We had four different evening worship & prayer services that focused on the church, children, underserved women in the area, and youth.
  • We had seven new medical professionals and participants join this year!
  • The team had a little fun getting to see the pyramids, the new Grand Egyptian Museum, and the seven churches of Old Cairo.
  • We continued to grow in relationship with our brothers and sisters in Egypt, and there were tears shed on both sides when it was time to leave.

We want to say thanks to each of you who supported this trip with prayer and/or finances. God is on the move in Egypt and it was a privilege to get to see it and participate in it firsthand. All glory be Jesus Christ!

Sunday Adult Education Class will Relocate
