New Sunday Morning Class on Romans with Cheryl Angus

"Martin Luther’s preface to the “Epistle to the Romans”, 1522.

“ Romans is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. It can never be read or pondered too much, and the more it is dealt with the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.”

Join us this Sunday, January 18th, at 9:30 in Patterson Auditorium.

Celebrating St. Giles’ Early History: Outpourings of the Spirit

Art Thomas has completed a three-volume history of St. Giles, and we’ll be celebrating the early years on February 8th (snow day February 15th)! Mark your calendars and get ready to hear some great stories of the past while leaning into the future that God has for us! Here are important details:

  1. Following our usual 10:30 am time of worship on February 8th, we’ll have a lunch reception in Patterson, followed by a one-hour program of short talks given by descendants of Blanton Belk, Earl Morey, and Louis Skidmore. A free copy (one per family) of each of the first two volumes will be available for St. Giles covenant partners (the third volume is still in production).
  2. Bring a dish to share for the lunch, just as we do for funerals and other receptions. Bring plenty, as we will have out-of-town guests to serve! Jo White is organizing the food; please let her know you can bring a dish: 804- 937-6836 or joeloisewhite@gmail.com
  3. Send Sarah Hill names & emails of former members so that the church can invite as many as possible sarah@webhills.net

Art has given us a wonderful gift through this labor of love. Invite your friends, and enjoy the celebration!

Women's

Fellowship Opportunities

The St. Giles Women's Fellowship is Back in Full Swing!

Is Heaven Real? Where is it and what does it look like? Am I going there?

Women's Fellowship will begin our new Bible study (video and book) on Tuesday, January 13. This 7-week study is called "Heaven: When Faith Becomes Sight", by Jennifer Rothschild. Jennifer is a wonderful Bible teacher, so don't miss this opportunity to join us!

We gather for fellowship and coffee/snacks at 9:45 a.m., and our study begins at 10:00 a.m. each week. We also take time each week to pray with and for one another, addressing needs and concerns.

All women are welcome and we hope to see you on the 13th!

More Church Life

Date Change For Book Club, Thursday Jan. 8th.

First Thursday Book Club will meet on January 8th, at 10 am, in the Parlor ( Welcome Center), because the first Thursday falls on New Years Day.  Book Club will begin the new year in an exciting and inspiring way.  St Giles' Dr. Art Thomas will be discussing the great Hebrides Revival in Scotland in the late 1940's - 1952.  Duncan Campbell and sisters Peggy and Christine Smith were intercessors and vessels God used to usher in this revival that had a ripple effect of the Holy Spirit's outpouring upon such men of faith as Billy Graham, Bill Bright, and others, as well as revivals in America.  Join us on January 8th for a discussion that may ignite revival fires in you.  Lunch will follow the meeting for those whose schedule allows.

Laughter & Lunch

We will not be meeting in January. The next meeting date will be announced later.

REFRESHMENTS DONATIONS

Thank you to those who signed up so far to help with refreshments in 2026. There are still several Sundays that we need people to fill.

I still get donations from Panera Bread and the Treat Shop, so all I ask is that people cover the fruit and/or veggies $15 per week or you can just bring the fruit yourself. The other items like potato chips and misc. other items I get myself. Thank you to those who donated in 2025!

Please give me the number of weeks you want to sign up for and whether you prefer to purchase the items or give me $15 to purchase them. I will add you to the calendar and send you a copy showing the days I put you on. THANK YOU
