Dear Saint Giles Families,
This will be busy week for us as we recognize and celebrate all that we are blessed with here at Saint Giles. Monday evening at 8:30 pm Saint Giles will dedicate a new athletics team room honoring the memory of Lauren Heath Barnett. At 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 13 we will celebrate an All School Mass welcoming Jack and Peggy Crowe as we honor them for the creation of their Education Endowment Fund. This new educational endowment will provide a predictable source for tuition assistance for our families for many years to come. That evening the kindergarten through 8
th
grade will participate in the annual Christmas Pageant at 6:30. Homeroom teachers will be ready for children to be dropped in their classrooms beginning at 6:00pm (no earlier please!). Wednesday at 12:45 the band will perform a Christmas concert for the students with a second performance at 6:30 that evening for families and friends. Our Catholic Charities Toy Drive wraps up Wednesday. Thanks to the many families who have already contributed! The students are working to collect 250 new unwrapped toys to make Christmas brighter for underprivileged children and earn an out of uniform day here at Saint Giles. If you have not donated to this worthy cause there is still time!
Another exciting happening to celebrate this week will be the installation of new windows in the Corrigan Building (kindergarten through third grade). These new windows are possible because of the Shared Cup fundraising efforts recently undertaken by the parish. Each class will need to move from their room for one day as the windows are installed. While this will be a bit of a challenge for teachers and students we are very grateful to the parishioners for the gift of these wonderful new windows and the warmth and beauty they will bring to our classrooms!
Thank you again to Mrs. Milder and Mrs. Reale for arranging the visit by children's author Lori Nichols. The children had a wonderful time learning about what she does as a writer. Thank you to Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Crilly for organizing volunteers in the upper grades library. The teachers and students are grateful for your support! Finally, Tuesday was originally scheduled as this trimester's Great Grade Mass for the 7th and 8th grade. We are working to reschedule your special Mass and will announce the new date shortly. We look forward to seeing you all this week at the many activities that celebrate and give testament to our wonderful community.
God Bless,
Nancy Zver

Just a reminder that once again Brownie Troop 41212 is collecting gently used coats, scarves, hats and gloves for the Kids Kloset in Oak Park. Boxes have been set up in the vestibule in both the Frawley and Corrigan Buildings. Please be sure buttons are in place, zippers work and the items are clean.
