Dear St. Isidore School Families,

“Some old-fashioned things like sunshine and fresh air are hard to beat.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder
Last Thursday marked the first official day of spring! The change of season couldn’t have come at a better time as we could all use a little bright spot about now. With spring comes the promise of warmer weather, more daylight, and nature’s gorgeous display. Flowers and trees begin to bloom, birds can be heard chirping, and everyone seems to have a little more pep in their step. This new beginning is one of God’s greatest gifts, and His presence can be felt deeply while we enjoy the beauty of it. I encourage you to break up your day by taking a walk, going for a bike ride or sitting outside for a moment. The fresh air can provide a much-needed reset.
You’re Off to Great Places
I offer my congratulations to our eighth graders who were accepted to De La Salle and Carondelet High School. They worked hard to prepare for the exam, and I am confident that an exceptional educational and spiritual journey lies ahead of them. We are blessed to live in an area that offers many wonderful high school options for our children. Wherever our eighth graders end up, I know that the foundation they received at SIS will serve them well. They are amazing children, and they will do amazing things!
Registration for the 2020–2021 School Year
Registration for the 2020–2021 school year is due this Friday, March 27. If you are able to do so, please register by that date. To provide flexibility during this time, I have issued an Intent to Return Form . Please submit this form only if you have not yet registered for the next school year but plan on returning. This form is an important tool that helps us gauge next year’s enrollment numbers. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at .
Principal Search Committee
As mentioned earlier in the month, I will not be returning as principal next school year. I have decided to return to New Orleans and will be serving as principal at my alma mater, St. Catherine of Siena School. I wanted to inform you that a search committee has been appointed to help find a new principal for the 2020–2021 school year. The committee, overseen by Father Moran, includes representatives from the school board, parent and alumni community, parish staff and current faculty. The committee met earlier this week to discuss the best way to assist with this process. Please know that I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition, and I will keep you informed of updates as they unfold.
Consent for Video Conferencing
Monday’s communication stated many teachers are utilizing video conferencing. Please take a moment to complete the SIS Parent Consent for Video Conferencing Form . Please ensure students are in public places within your home during live chats and not in their bedrooms. It is also best that a parent or sibling is present when students are participating in a one-on-one video conference or online class.
#Sunshine Spirit Week
To introduce a little sunshine into the SIS Community, Mrs. Devine and Mrs. Lettire have partnered with Student Leadership to provide students, staff, and parents a virtual Spirit Week, starting this Monday, March 30. Each day, students will have the opportunity to show their spirit by participating in a different activity. Click here to view the week’s events. Please note that this is optional; students choose if they would like to participate. Photos of your child participating in Sunshine Spirit Week can be sent to . Photos may be featured on our SIS social media platforms. Social media provides a fun way to keep us connected during this time. Please take a moment to follow SIS on Instagram and Facebook .
We are aware that it was announced earlier today that six Bay Area counties have extended school closures through May 1. We are consulting with the diocese on this recent announcement and will keep you updated if things change for our school.
Keep learning, keep smiling and keep praying! Easter break is on the horizon, SIS.
God bless,
Maria Ward, Principal
PS. Dad’s Dodgeball and the Father–Daughter Dance have been postponed. If you purchased tickets at the auction, stay tuned for new event dates. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Please pray for all those who are suffering or in need of our thoughts and prayers, especially Will Pringle and Mrs. Koskowich's sister who are both ill. Please pray for the grandmother of the Chatman Family who is recovering from surgery and all those affected by the Coronavirus across the globe. May God keep them in His tender, loving care.

Random Acts of Kindness
Random acts of kindness are deliberate attempts to brighten another person's day by doing something thoughtful, nice, and caring. Go out and spread kindness, SIS! Please let the office know if you do or witness a RAOK.
Share a happy message in your neighborhood! Last week students were encouraged to spread cheer and support by writing a positive message in chalk for neighbors and friends. Pictured is a sweet message written by Ava and Reese Merritt in 2nd grade. Great job ladies!
Support those in need! The American Red Cross strongly urges healthy, eligible individuals who are feeling well to give blood or platelets to help maintain a sufficient blood supply and prevent shortages as concerns about the outbreak of COVID-19 rise in the U.S.
