October 2, 2019 - Anchored in His Love
Peace - St. Francis & St. Clare
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Happy Fall, Y’all
Fall is officially here! Last week, we said goodbye to the warm days of summer and hello to the cooler days of autumn. The leaves on the trees are beginning to change, the days are noticeably shorter, and the air is starting to feel crisp. Hooray! It’s a beautiful time in nature and an exciting time at school. October is fun and offers many opportunities to celebrate the season including the Foundation Oktoberfest , Parish Fall Festiva l , Red Ribbon Week, Boo Candy Grams, and the ever so popular Halloween parade. I look forward to enjoying this time of year with y’all!
Dismissal Time Change Tomorrow
Thursday (10/3) will be a 1:50pm dismissal due to the SRVHS Homecoming Parade. It will be a regular carpool. I apologize for the short notice and appreciate your understanding and willingness to accommodate.
Progress Reports
Progress reports will be sent home today for grades TK–4. Grades 5–8 will bring home a progress report form. Depending on the grade, please either return a signed progress report or orange form tomorrow. Progress reports allow parents to check in with their child and see how they are doing in each area. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Grades for students in grades 5–8 can be viewed in Schoology by going to the student view, clicking on “Grades” at the top of the screen, and then selecting “Grade Report.” You can then click on each course to view grades/comments or click download student report>view trimester 1>next>select all>submit.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held next week, Tuesday through Friday, October 8–11 . If you have not yet signed up for a conference time, please take a moment to log into Schoology and schedule a meeting. As mentioned last week, children in grades 3–8 will attend conferences with their parents. During conference days, school will be dismissed at 12:00 pm, and Kids Konnection will be open as usual. If your child will be attending KK on a minimum day, please make sure they have a lunch.
Listed below are some helpful tips to prepare for your conference.

Talk to your child: Ask your child if there is anything that they would like you to discuss with the teacher.
Be prepared: Write down topics and areas of success and growth you would like to discuss at the conference.
Be on time and respectful of the teacher’s schedule: Arrive promptly, or a few minutes early, to maximize the scheduled time allotment.
Be open-minded: Be open to suggestions and input, and please share your insights and questions, too. We all share a common goal of educating and supporting our children. Please take the time to process and share positives/areas of improvement with your child from your scheduled conference.
WCEA/WASC Accreditation
Our school is accredited every six years through WCEA (Western Catholic Educational Association) and the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). It is time for us to begin this process again. In upcoming newsletters, you will find more information about the WCEA/WASC process. We have met as a faculty to begin discussing updates for our mission, philosophy, and SLEs (Schoolwide Learning Expectations). In the coming weeks, we will also ask for your input via a survey. Students, School Board, Faculty and Father Moran will also be given surveys to complete. Please look for the Parent Survey in next week’s newsletter and/or a special survey email.

Common Sense Media Tip
Common Sense Tip of the week : Just like you'd ask your kid about their sleep, exercise, and eating, stay on top of their online life. Who are they chatting with? How do people treat each other in the games and on the sites they're using?
SIS Family Highlight
Welcome Ennen Family! Mike and Melissa Ennen, along with their three girls Piper (5th- Lettire), Brooke (3rd- Goetze), and Josie (1st- Devine), are an outdoors-loving, sporty bunch. If you miss seeing them at soccer games and swim meets in town, you can probably find them up in the mountains backpacking and camping or skiing. When forced indoors during the week, Mike works in the medical device industry and Melissa is an anesthesiologist.
The whole family is very excited to be at SIS this year and would like to thank all the families and school staff who gave them such great advice about joining this wonderful school and community.
