October 23, 2019 - Anchored in His Love
Peace - St. Francis & St. Clare
Dear St. Isidore Families,
I recently read an article written by Esther Wojcicki , the author of How to Raise Successful People: Simple Lessons for Radical Results , that provided some helpful tips on raising children to be responsible, self-sufficient, functioning adults. Esther, the mother of three extremely successful adult children (Susan is the CEO of YouTube, Janet is a professor of pediatrics at the University of California–San Francisco, and Anne is the co-founder and CEO of 23andMe), believes teaching your child the following five values is crucial to their future success: TRUST, RESPECT, INDEPENDENCE, COLLABORATION, AND KINDNESS (TRICK). I wanted to share it with you because it is a great read, explaining why each of these values is so important.
Parent Survey
As mentioned previously, St. Isidore is in the process of renewing its WCEA accreditation, and the process requires specific parent information. If you have not done it already, please take a moment to complete the survey: click here . The information you provide truly plays an integral role in the process; therefore, we will give two PEP hours to each family who completes the survey by the end of the month. Just print your screen when you complete the survey. If you have already done the survey, please send me an email to get the PEP time. Sadly, only 46 families have taken the survey.
Emergency Drill Recap
Thank you for participating in last week’s emergency drill; it served as a perfect opportunity for students, parents, and staff to better acquaint themselves with what an emergency student release would look like. After the drill, the staff gathered to go over specifics of the day. We discussed what worked smoothly and what adjustments would need to be made if a real situation were to occur. If you have any feedback on the procedure, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. Again, thank you for your cooperation.
Veterans Day Ceremony
I invite you to join us on Friday, November 8, at 10:00am, as we gather together in the Msgr. Students, parents, and staff look forward to this patriotic event and celebrating our great nation together.
If you know a veteran who would like to attend, click here . Please RSVP by November 5.

The basis for healthy emotional development is a sense of being lovable. Make sure your children know that they are loved for who they are, not only for how well they perform. Value the uniqueness of each child.
SIS Family Highlight
Welcome Mogannam Family! Abid, Stephanie, Nimer (1-Hutchinson) and Nathan (K-Camenson) recently relocated from Los Gatos, CA. Abid is a Vascular Surgeon and Stephanie stays at home raising the boys. We have lived in Irvine, Redlands and La Jolla during residency and fellowship. We are happy to settle down in Danville and join the St. Isidore community. When we have free time we enjoy traveling to new places, playing sports and building legos with the boys. We are huge 49er fans and will be cheering them on this season.
Halloween is right around the corner! Please consider the age of our student body when choosing a costume. Costumes should be modest and not too scary, no weapons. The costume must allow the child to function as a student while in class. Please remember to go light on the face paint and that masks may be worn only during the parade. We want to be able to recognize our students to help ensure safety for all. On Halloween, please join us for our parade in the courtyard at 11:00am . Following the parade, students will go back to their classrooms to pack up. School will be dismissed at 12:00pm; There will be NO KIDS KONNECTION AVAILABLE AFTER SCHOOL. Thank you.

Scrip News... Click here to order! Thank you to all the families who participate in SCRIP. It is an easy fundraiser for our school, and the bonus is that you always get exactly what you paid for. We continue to strive for 100% participation and do hope that if you haven’t purchased SCRIP yet, you will start now! There truly is a SCRIP card for everyone in your family. We all buy groceries, gas and maybe a latte here or there, and ordering your cards at school is easy.

Every SCRIP retailer gives a percentage back to the school and some give significantly more than others, but no matter the donation, each purchase adds up and helps to support St. Isidore School. Throughout the course of the school year please look at your calendar, shopping needs, birthdays, vacation plans, and home projects to see how you can budget for SCRIP cards. Thank you for shopping with Scrip!
