October 9, 2019 - Anchored in His Love
Peace - St. Francis & St. Clare
Dear St. Isidore Families,

It seems that every couple of months, the topic of carpool procedures needs to be revisited, and rules need to be reiterated. Please know that the rules are put in place to ensure student safety; that is our top priority as a community! Students continue to be dropped off in the Kids Konnection parking lot, the crosswalk, the staff parking lot, the back gate, the red zones along La Gonda Way and many other locations. The staff has witnessed several dangerous situations in which there was the possibility of a child being injured. Our expectation is that you follow the rules so our priority can be supervising our children. The staff is trained on the rules of carpool; please follow their direction. I ask that you use ONLY the SCHOOL CARPOOL for drop-off and pick-up. It truly is the best way to keep the students and staff safe. For the many who follow the rules, I want to say thank you, it truly helps us do our job.
WCEA Parent Survey
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we are in the process of renewing our WCEA and WASC accreditation. The accreditation requires specific parent information that we hope to gather through the linked parent survey. Please take a moment to complete the survey . The information you provide plays an important role in the process. Thank you for your support.
Emergency Drill
Our biannual emergency drill will take place on Thursday, October 17, starting at 12:45pm. An all-school evacuation followed by student release will take place. Please note that students will be released only to those listed on their emergency forms, and photo identification is required. Any student not picked up during the drill will be taken to Kids Konnection afterward. Listed below is the student release schedule.
12:45 T – Z
1:15 N – S
1:45 H – M
2:15 A – G
Students should wear their uniforms or uniform tops with jeans, bring a bottle of water, an SSR book, and wear sunscreen and a hat or sunglasses. They are also allowed to bring in a deck of cards.
Halloween Fun
Halloween is right around the corner! Please consider the age of our student body when choosing a costume. Costumes should be modest and not too scary, no weapons. The costume must allow the child to function as a student while in class. Please remember to go light on the face paint and that masks may be worn only during the parade. We want to be able to recognize our students to help ensure safety for all. On Halloween, please join us for our parade in the courtyard at 11:00am. Following the parade, students will go back to their classrooms to pack up. School will be dismissed at 12:00pm; Kids Konnection will be open as usual.
Parent Teacher Conferences and 12:00pm dismissals will continue through the end of the week. On Friday, afternoon carpool will be park and pick-up. Please note there will be no school on Monday, October 14, in observance of Columbus Day. Have a wonderful rest of the week and a fabulous long weekend!

PS. As mentioned in yesterday's constant contact email, SIS may experience possible PG&E blackouts. If you need to reach the school during a black out, please contact the office cell phone at (925) 389-8190.
God bless,
Maria Ward, Principal

Challenge Success Tip
Tip of the week : Maintain play time, down time, and family time. Avoid over-scheduling. Young children need ample time for their most important job: unstructured play. And families need time together: at meals, on weekends, and during vacations to connect and form lasting bonds.

Random Acts of Kindness
Random acts of kindness are deliberate attempts to brighten another person's day by doing something thoughtful, nice, and caring. Go out and spread kindness SIS. Please let the office know if you do or witness a RAOK.
SIS says thank you! SIS offers a Jr. High enrichment class called Cultivating Service taught by Mrs. Bender and Mrs. Schmidt. Last week the class took a walk up to the local police station to deliver bags of gratitude. The officers were thrilled with the gesture and the candy. Good job!
