Empathy - St. Peter & St. Paul
Dear St. Isidore Families,

“Give from your heart, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – Corinthians 9:7
At St. Isidore School, we partner to make a difference in our community and beyond, leading efforts to assist those in need of support and generosity. Tomorrow, September 19, the students and staff will participate in a free dress donation day in support of those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. For a $1 donation, students can dress in jeans and a school uniform top, or, if preferred, wear dress shorts with a 5-inch inseam with their uniform top. Remember, NO athletic gear. It is always heartwarming to see how much joy the students experience when lending a helping hand.
Let the fun begin
The SIS Book Fair will kick off next week, on Tuesday, September 24, and the family event will take place after school on Friday, September 27, from 2:50–5:00 pm.
Also, the deadline for the SIS Golf Classic is fast approaching. The last day to register will be Monday, September 23. Click here to register for golf, tennis, or dinner. We are excited that so many have already registered for this fabulous day. Please make sure to get your tickets for dinner, even if you can’t make the day event. It will be a good time, and I look forward to seeing you there!
Students of the Month
Congratulations to our Students of the Month for September/October: Elynn Schmidt (2nd grade, Mrs. Caldwell’s class) and Darya Berjis (8th grade, Mrs. Torretta’s class) . Faculty and staff nominate and vote for students based on the monthly Gospel Values. September’s Gospel Value is “Empathy” and October’s Gospel Value is “Peace.” Elynn’s teacher said, “She is a great example of a peacemaker on the playground and shows empathy inside and outside of the classroom.” Darya’s teacher said, “She models love, peace, and empathy on a daily basis, and she is always smiling.” We celebrate you both!
Emergency Drill
Our biannual Emergency Disaster Drill mandated by the diocese will take place on Thursday, October 17, starting at 12:45pm . The Disaster Drill allows staff and parents to better familiarize themselves with our policies and procedures in case an emergency situation occurs. An all-school evacuation followed by student release will take place. Listed below is the release schedule. Please note that students will be released only to those listed on their emergency forms and photo identification is required. Any student not picked up during the drill will be taken to Kids Konnection afterwards. Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility.

Avoid Getting Sick - Practice Good Hygiene
Washing your hands with soap and water is one of the most important ways to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. According to the CDC, 22 million school days are lost annually due to colds alone. With cold and flu season right around the corner, let’s review good hand-washing techniques with our children.

  • Wet your hands with clean water.
  • Apply soap to your hands.
  • Rub your hands together to make a lather and scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  • Scrub your hands well for at least twenty seconds (or sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice).
  • After rinsing your hands with clean, running water, dry your hands using a clean towel (or air dry).

Let’s encourage good hand hygiene at home and at school. This will help reduce absenteeism by keeping our kids healthy and at school - learning.
