October 30, 2019 - Anchored in His Love
Peace - St. Francis & St. Clare
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Happy Halloween
Tomorrow is the big day: Halloween! Halloween is fun for us all… students and staff in costumes, class parties and, at the end of the day, an all-school parade. Please join us for our annual Halloween parade in the courtyard at 11:00 a.m. Following the parade, students will go back to their classrooms to pack up. School will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. and it will be park and pick up. There will be no carpool tomorrow afternoon. There will be NO KIDS KONNECTION AVAILABLE AFTER SCHOOL . Please see specifics on costumes in the paragraph below.
I would ask you to remember that all costumes must be school appropriate. Please do not let your children wear anything too questionable or scary. If girls are wearing tutus, please make sure they also wear leggings and shorts underneath, and if boys are wearing skin suits that they wear sports shorts on top. If students are not dressed properly for Halloween fun, they will not be able to participate in the festivities of the day.
Candy Collection
SIS will once again be collecting candy to donate to the Blue Star Moms, who will send it to our troops around the world. The collection will take place in the school hallway and will run November 1–8 . This tradition was started by Kathy Oertli, a former St. Isidore parent who sadly passed away. We honor Kathy’s dedication to the Blue Star Moms and send our love to her family and friends.
All Saints Day Schedule
Friday, November 1, will be a late start day. School will start at 8:50 a.m. and we will attend mass at 9:10 a.m. Please make sure students are in full mass attire. In lieu of collecting a can of food, a collection will be taken during the offertory. You are welcome to join us for Mass!
Together We Do Great Things
Red Ribbon Week allowed the students and staff to come together for some fun, wackiness, and GIVING! During the week, students were encouraged to bring in cans of food for the Monument Crisis Center, and boy, did they! By midweek, the five collection bins were overflowing with generosity, and it was evident we needed additional bins. By Friday, we had seven large bins filled to the rim, totaling 1,730 pounds of food, which is more than 3,400 meals. Our Red Ribbon Week efforts also included a “Free Dress” donation day, raising $350 for the Mario Perez Education Fund at St. Felicitas Church in San Leandro. Thank you for your generosity and support. It is evident that, together, SIS can do great things!
Mind the Gap
Mind the Gap Push Month will be wrapping up soon! Donations made by Friday, November 8 qualify your family for the Mind the Gap raffle. Thank you to the many families who have already donated to our school-wide campaign. As mentioned previously, the campaign helps fill the gap between what tuition dollars cover and what it actually costs to educate a child. We ask that each family donate the recommended $500 per student. I truly appreciate your generosity and support. Please know it makes a difference and benefits the students and staff directly. Click here to donate today.
Remember that Sunday, November 3 is Daylight Savings day and together we will “Fall Back”. I wish you all a HAPPY and SAFE Halloween! Hope to see you at the Halloween parade and All Saints Day mass.
God bless,

Maria Ward, Principal

Common Sense Media
Tip of the week : Let kids know that supporting a friend or acquaintance who is being bullied can make a big difference. If they feel safe confronting the bully, they should. If not, a private message to the victim can be enough to help someone through a tough time. Speaking up against hate speech is important, too.
