January 29, 2020 - Anchored in His Love
Faith - St. John of the Cross & St. Teresa of Avila
Dear St. Isidore School Families,

“Life is better when we’re together”
Catholic Schools Week serves as a great reminder of how blessed we are to be part of such a fabulous community! We started the week with Mass on Sunday, and it was as wonderful as always to see so many students wearing their school uniform with pride. The joy trickled over to our annual Sneak-A-Peek. Thank you to all the families and staff who attended. Monday, we celebrated our amazing COMMUNITY with an after-school social. The students obviously enjoyed the cookies, punch, and time together.
Tuesday’s Free Dress Day was a great display of generosity as, together, we raised funds for those suffering in Australia. Today we celebrate our dedicated TEACHERS, whose love of learning is evident and appreciated. Thank you to those who participated in this morning’s “Bake Off.” Everything was delicious. Thursday we celebrate SPORTSMANSHIP at our annual College Bowl held in the Bensen Gym, and you are welcome to join us. In the evening, we will come together for the Science Fair and Open House. See further details below in the Catholic School Week section. We will end the week by celebrating our STUDENTS , the heart of our school. Students will enjoy a Free Dress Day and an all-school rally. Thank you for being part of this special week. Life is truly better when we’re together!

Open House – Thursday, January 30

Pizza Guys (CASH ONLY) will be serving up hot slices of cheese and pepperoni pizza. Classrooms will be open for viewing from 6:00 pm–7:00 pm. The students and teachers have worked hard to prepare and are excited to show you what they have been working on. The “Pup-up” store, The Dog House, will be open for business, and the new SIS Spiritwear will be on display, so stop by and check it out.

Student of the Month
Congratulations to our new Students of the Month for January/February, Kassidy Waltherhouse (first grade, Mrs. Hutchinson’s class) and Anthony Lupo (eighth grade, Mrs. Torretta’s class). Faculty and staff nominate and vote on students based on the monthly Gospel Values. January’s Gospel Value was “Faith” and February’s Gospel Value is “Love.” Kassidy’s teacher said she is kind, positive and respectful. Anthony’s teacher said he is always kind to everyone and models good behavior. She said he has also shown the initiative needed to advance his academics. We celebrate you both!

STEAM Night – Coming soon
Our second annual STEAM night is just around the corner! Please join us on Thursday, February 20, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Bensen gym. It will be an evening of hands-on science, math, engineering and art activities centered around this year’s theme, Ocean. This annual event offers students and families quality time learning together. Click here to RSVP.

SIS Gala – Part-tee with the Principals
Get those paddles ready for this year’s new live auction item, Golf with the Principals! The day will include 18 holes of tournament-style golf for eight golfers at the beautiful Blackhawk Country Club. Following the round, players and their spouses are invited to join Mr. Keane and me for a sunset reception and al fresco dinner on the 10th tee box. It’s going to be a great time! If you are yet to buy tickets to Forever Young, click here .

I am grateful to all who attended and helped facilitate the week’s events. I would like to offer a special thank you to our school counselor, Mrs. Michelle Devine, for her devotion to making Catholic Schools Week special for us all and to all who helped judge this year’s Science Fair. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

God bless,
Maria Ward, Principal

Please contact Teresa Bowes at bowesfamily7@yahoo.com if you are interested in coaching or serving as a team parent. Each grade level will need assistance.
Common Sense Media Tip of the Week
Tip of the week : Charge your phone outside of your bedroom. Having a phone by the bed is known to cause sleep problems. Invest in an old-fashioned alarm clock and keep phones away from sleeping bodies overnight.
