December 19, 2018 - Walking Together in Faith
Kindness - St. Nicholas
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
We are almost there! Christmas is days away, and the excitement for the holiday and the break is electric; the school is abuzz with excitement. Christmastime is special and brings out the best in us. Greetings among friends, warm hugs, holiday traditions, delicious treats, and a genuine feeling of love fill the halls of St. Isidore School. Soon we will come together to celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus—the true reason for the season. On behalf of the staff and myself, thank you for the love and kindness you bestow upon us all.
We are truly blessed!
O come let us adore Him
I invite you to join us this Friday, December 21st, at 8:10 a.m. for an ALL-SCHOOL MASS . This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect and pray together at Christmastime. At the end of Mass, the first grade class will perform its annual Christmas Pageant. As a reminder, Friday is a 12:00 p.m. dismissal, students are to be dressed in "Christmas Best," carpool is walk-in pick up, and there will be no Kids Connection after school.
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Last week’s annual Christmas Concert was fun for all! The students did a wonderful job, filling the room with song and cheer. It was heartwarming to see so many of us together celebrating the season. I want to thank our fabulous music teacher, Ms. Micaela Groman, for her hard work and dedication. She truly gives a hundred percent, and the school is better for it. Thank you to Miss Lettire and Miss Groman for the adorable faculty video. It was a hit! If you missed the video, click here to view it on our FB page.
Help spread the word
As you visit with neighbors and friends over the holiday break, please mention the SIS TK/Kindergarten Informational Open House being held on Thursday, January 17th, at 10:00 a.m. Word of mouth is the number one way new families hear about our school, making you our best marketing tool. Your help is always appreciated.
Volunteer requirements
Every parent/grandparent that volunteers on campus MUST HAVE fingerprint clearance and a completed Virtus Training Certificate on file. Recently, we have noticed that many volunteers have missing/expired certifications. In an effort to comply with Diocesan regulations and to protect the safety of our students, we will no longer allow volunteers who are missing the aforementioned clearances to volunteer on campus. Please take the time to ensure you have completed the proper paperwork. If you are unsure of your status, please contact the office at (925) 837-2977. We are working hard to update our database and apologize for any confusion during volunteer check-in.
I simply cannot get over how fast this school year is going and how much we have accomplished thus far as a school and community. In the true spirit of the season, I want to express a heartfelt thank you for your contributions to our success this past year. Best wishes to you and your family for a joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Maria Ward

Random Act of Kindness
Random acts of kindness are deliberate attempts to brighten another person's day by doing something thoughtful, nice, and caring. Go out and spread kindness SIS. Please let the office know if you do or witness a RAOK.
Local business with a big heart! Last week, SIS hired the Danville FedEx to print the Christmas concert programs. They did a wonderful job with the printing, offered a discount and went about and beyond by folding all the brochures free of charge. What a nice holiday surprise.
Challenge Success
Children who spent more time in less-structured activities displayed better self-directed control, even after controlling for age, verbal ability, and household income. By contrast, children who spent more time in structured activities exhibited poorer self-directed EF(executive functioning), controlling for the same factors.
