December 12, 2018 - Walking Together in Faith
Kindness - St. Nicholas
Dear St. Isidore Families,

I am aware this is a long letter, but it’s all GOOD INFORMATION

“The best way to spread CHRISTMAS CHEER is singing loud for all to hear.”
Nothing brings on the feeling of Christmas more than seeing children of all ages singing the holiday songs that have been sung for generations. It truly spreads Christmas cheer and is one of the best reminders of why we send our children to St. Isidore School.
Our school Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 13, at 7 pm. We ask that students arrive at the Cardelli Gym no later than 6:45 p.m. and be dressed in their “Christmas Best” (no jeans, tank tops, etc.). Parents, please be patient and considerate as you enter the gym. There is room for everyone. Please join me directly after the show for a holiday treat of cookies and milk in the St. Isidore Room

We will have an open dress rehearsal on the day of the concert at 1:00 p.m. for those who would like to attend. The rehearsal is usually less crowded and a great time for grandparents and friends to come and enjoy the show. If your child is unable to attend the show, please email me directly at [email protected] .

Making Spirits Bright
Our annual Sip & Shop event was a holiday hit! It was fabulous to see people enjoying the festive décor, delicious food and drink, the great shopping, and most of all,
EACH OTHER . I want to thank the chairs, Catherine Selway and Catherine Kuuskraa, for all the time and effort they spent to put on this terrific event for our community. It truly was a gift for us all!

On behalf of the Knights of Columbus, I would like to thank all who donated a gift to a child in need. It was heartwarming to see our students so excited about the opportunity of brightening another child’s Christmas. Those gifts, along with boxes of food items, will make the holiday a little bit happier for many deserving families.

Campus Updates
Our efforts to update and improve the campus continue, helping to ensure a safer environment for the students while adding to the overall aesthetics of the campus. During the break, Kids Konnection/TK will have a new play structure installed along with a new front gate. The gate will match the style of the school entrance and will feature a buzz-in system. The play structure project took longer than originally anticipated, but your patience has been appreciated.

Schoology Notifications
It has come to my attention that several school families have experienced an issue receiving school and classroom information. Please note that all communications are distributed through Schoology and not direct emails. Please make sure your notifications are set so you receive an email/text alert when a new message has been posted. Without these alerts, it is difficult to stay in the loop. Click here for instructions on setting alerts. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your understanding as we familiarize ourselves with this new system. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Holiday Reminders
Friday, December 14 : Please join us for an all-school mass. Mass offers a wonderful opportunity to come together in prayer this holiday season. After mass, our beloved second grade class will delight us with a performance of the Prodigal Son.

Monday, December 17 : Dismissal has been switched to 12pm to accommodate the Christmas party for our faculty and staff. There will be NO KIDS KONNECTION available that afternoon and CARPOOL WILL BE WALK IN–PICK UP . This annual celebration gives the staff an opportunity to celebrate together the joy of Christmas.

Friday, December 21 : For the last day of school before the holiday break, students are to wear “ Christmas Best. ”  Please join us at 8:10 a.m. for an all-school mass, followed by the annual First Grade Christmas Pageant . It will be a 12:00 p.m. dismissal, CARPOOL WILL BE WALK IN–PICK UP , and there will be NO KIDS KONNECTION available in the afternoon.

We have been informed that Bishop Barber will be coming to St. Isidore Church this Sunday, December 16 th , to speak at the end of each Mass. Unfortunately, the Bishop will not be able to make it to the Saturday Vigil Mass. We hope that our families will be able to attend.

If you ordered a Christmas wreath from the SIS Foundation and have yet to pick it up, please swing by the office. Your wreath is waiting for you. Have a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy each moment as we inch closer to Christmas and the holiday break.

Random acts of kindness are deliberate attempts to brighten another person's day by doing something thoughtful, nice, and caring. Go out and spread kindness SIS. Please let the office know if you do or witness a RAOK.
Friendship and Kindness go hand in hand! Last week, at the annual Christmas Boutique 5th grader, Christina Gard noticed her friend Katie had lost her money. Christina wanted to help so she gave her friend some of her own money to spend. We are proud of her kindness and willingness to help a friend in need.
TK Information
  • TK Parents please mark your calendar, the annual TK flip-flop will take place on Tuesday, January 22nd. The current AM class will flip to the PM time slot and the current PM class will flip to the AM time slot. This change allows students the opportunity to experience mass , helps the child adjust to a full day of school and makes it equitable to all parents.

  • If your child is a current TK student, you DO NOT need to fill out an online application or schedule a testing time for next school year, 2019-2020. Please contact the office if you do not plan on attending Kindergarten at SIS.

  • Please help us spread the word about our upcoming TK/Kindergarten meeting on Thursday, January 17th at 10am. Word of mouth is truly our best form of marketing.

Scrip
Scrip News...
Thank you for your weekly orders, for using SCRIP vendors, and for thinking outside of the box for how you can use SCRIP in your routine shopping needs, as well as for gift giving, home projects, entertainment, travel and dining. Stock up on those necessities now like Lunardi’s, Safeway, Whole Foods, Smart N Final and Sprout’s Farmers Market.

Purchase a few Regal & Cinemark cards and set a date for the movies. There is so much to see over the Christmas holiday like Aquaman, Mary Poppins, and Spiderman. If you are feeling crunched for time or at a loss with gift giving, solve that dilemma with an Amazon, Target, Itunes or Visa card.

This will be the last week that we can take Special Orders so get them in! Lastly, we are still accepting donations to Soup Kitchen. It's not too late. Thank you for shopping with Scrip!
