October 31, 2018 - Walking Together in Faith
Peace - St. Francis of Assisi
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Happy Halloween
Halloween at St. Isidore School never disappoints! Buying a friend a “Boo,” dressing in costume, and marching in the parade are fun for the young and young at heart. SIS will once again be collecting candy to donate to the Blue Star Moms, who will send it to our troops around the world. The collection will take place in the school hallway and will run from November 1st through 8th. This tradition was started by a former St. Isidore parent who sadly passed away last year, Kathy Oertli. We honor Kathy’s dedication to the Blue Star Moms and send our love to her family and friends.

Tomorrow, Thursday, November 1, school will start at 8:50 a.m. due to All Saints Day Mass. Mass will be held at 9:10 a.m.; please make sure students are in full mass attire. In lieu of collecting a can of food, a collection will be taken during the offertory.

Together We Do Great Things
Red Ribbon Week allowed the students and staff an opportunity to come together for some fun, wackiness, and GIVING ! During the week, students were encouraged to bring in cans of food for the Monument Crisis Center, and boy did they! By midweek, the four collection bins were overflowing with generosity, and it was evident we needed additional bins. By Friday, we had seven large bins filled to the rim, totaling 1,762 pounds of food, which is more than 3,500 meals. Our Red Ribbon week efforts also included a “Free Dress” donation day benefiting Loaves and Fishes that raised $640. Thank you for your generosity and support; it is evident that together SIS can do great things!

Mind the Gap
Thank you to the many families that have already donated to our school-wide campaign, Mind the Gap. The campaign was created six years ago to help fill the gap between what tuition dollars cover and what it actually costs to educate a child. We ask that each family donate the recommended $500 per student. See the Mind the Gap push month incentives in today’s family envelope, and please know that your generosity and support make a difference and benefit the students and staff directly. Click here to donate.

Morning with Maria Recap
Thank you to those who attended last week’s “Morning with Maria.” These impromptu meetings encourage open communication and allow me to hear your concerns and see situations from your perspective. Topics discussed included carpool, Schoology, and how to continue to build and strengthen our community. In hopes of getting feedback from those of you who are not able to join us for Mornings with Maria, we have created an online comment/question form . You can find this on the school board page of our website.

Sponsor Shout Out: The Sponsorship Team is starting a new feature in the newsletter called " Sponsor Shout Out ". The hope is to provide information on the sponsor and encourage SIS families to patron these businesses. This week's Spotlight Sponsor is Diamond Sponsor,  Fremont Bank . They have been a loyal SIS Supporter for over 18 years and a big contributor to the community. We encourage our families to use Fremont Bank's service for all your banking needs.
SIS Family Highlight
Welcome Baby Wotowic! We are excited to announce that the Wotowic Family welcomed a baby boy, Paul Stanley Watson into the world last week. The Wotowic's are doing great and and his big sister, Maddy in Kindergarten is taking great care of her little brother.
Challenge Success
Tip of the week: Build responsibility at home and in the community. Have children help in age-appropriate ways with chores around the house. This requires you to take time to show children how to do the chores and to allow tasks to get done differently (and sometimes not as well) as if you did them yourself. It also reminds children that they are a contributing, capable part of a family team, not an entitled member served by parents. As they get older, encourage children to be active participants in their community, and set an example by being involved yourself.

Please Join St. Isidore School for our Annual Veterans Day Ceremony! The ceremony will take place on Friday, November 9th at 10am in the Msgr. Cardelli Center.
