January 30, 2019 - Walking Together in Faith
Love - St. Valentine
Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

One of the many things I love about Catholic Schools Week is how it brings us together as a community. We started the week with Mass on Sunday, and it was truly wonderful to see so many students wearing their school uniforms with pride. The joy trickled over to our annual Sneak-A-Peek. Thank you to all the families and staff who attended. Monday, we celebrated our amazing COMMUNITY with an after-school social. The students seemed to enjoy the popcorn, punch, and time together. Monday’s Free Dress day was a great display of generosity and together we raised over $500 for Family Aid for Catholic Education (F.A.C.E.). Tuesday was all about celebrating our STUDENTS , the heart of our school. The students enjoyed the annual College bowl (8th grade v. teachers) volleyball game and the spirit rally. Today, we dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate our great NATION . Tomorrow, we will enjoy the Open House and Science Fair. See details on those events below.

Open House: Thursday, January 31
Take the stress out of getting to the Annual Science Fair and Open House and join us at 4:30pm for dinner. Taco Guy (CASH ONLY) will be serving cheese quesadillas and steak/chicken tacos, prices ranging from $3–$8 . Gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches (CASH/CARD) will be serving an assortment of grilled cheeses, prices ranging from $8–$12. Classrooms will be open for viewing from 6:00pm–7:00pm . The students and teachers have worked hard to prepare and are excited to show you what they have been working on. The new “Pup-up” store, The Dog House, will be open for business, so stop by and check it out. Click here to view merchandise on sale.

Science Fair
The annual Science Fair will begin at 5:30pm . The students have worked hard on their projects and I applaud their efforts. The awards ceremony will begin at 5:45pm, followed by Open House at 6pm. I want to offer a sincere thank you to the chairs of this year’s Science Fair, Bryan Terry and Teresa Wegesser. I would also like to thank Linda Baldyga, the parent judges, and our Junior High Science Team, Mrs. Eleanor Gilchrist and Mr. Ashton Roman. Your dedication to our program is appreciated. This year, some of our graduates who have become scientists joined our judges. It was such a good feeling to see our programs come full circle.

A Day of Giving
As mentioned, St. Isidore is participating in an online giving campaign, Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools, made possible by NCEA . A Catholic education can make a profound impact today and provide a future filled with opportunities to make a positive difference. Please consider donating by clicking here . All donations, small or large, are greatly appreciated, and they will go directly to St. Isidore School.

Today's parent bake-off was a tremendous success with over 20 families participating. Thank you parents for such an incredible selection of delicious items from fresh baked goods including Tiramisu, giant cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, yummy cookies, banana brioche, homemade donut holes, 7 layer bars, dips, macaroons and so much more to mouth watering egg casseroles, tomato bisque soup as well as cheese and corn cakes. You spoiled our staff and faculty and we are grateful for your time and dedication to share such incredible family recipes with all of us. Thank you to all who contributed coffee, juice and fruit. All that participated today will earn PEP hours.
Challenge Success
Ease performance pressure: For many young people, the questions parents ask most often are: “How did you do on the test? Have you done your homework?” The subtle message to kids is that performance and results matter most. Instead, emphasize the importance of effort, hard work, resilience, and intellectual curiosity by asking open-ended, non-judgmental questions such as, “How did the day go?”
