Mission of the Month - October

Mission of the Month
Honduras Christmas

The New England Synod and St. James have a long-standing relationship with the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras. Each year, representatives from the church in Honduras travel throughout the country to provide a special Christmas meal, toys for children, and a visit from Santa. We are collecting funds this month to send down for this special program. For these children in Honduras, one of the poorest countries in the world, this may be the only gift and celebration they have at Christmas. Please consider giving to this mission throughout the month of October!

**September Mission of the Month Update:  Last month we raised a total of $267.45 for the KIND, Kids in Need of Defense, organization.  Thank you for your continued generosity!
Camp Calumet Summer Mission:  Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who generously supported our Summer Mission of the Month to benefit Camp Calumet's annual Reach the Beach Relay team.  We were able to raise about $1,000, which was matched by a contribution from the Janet Ramsey Calumet Scholarship fund.  In addition to the $2,000 contribution from St. James-runners for Reach the Beach raised over $90,000 to help provide scholarships for children to attend a week of camp!  Thank you to all who contributed and to our participants from St. James!  God is good...All the Time!
Attention:  Nut Allergies at St. James
Please be aware that we have several people in our community of faith who have severe nut allergies. We have posted signs in some parts of the Community Room designating these areas as  "Nut Free" . Our snacks for children during Sunday morning activities are purchased with this restriction in mind. Going forward, it would be great if fellowship hosts are able to keep snacks nut-free. If this is not possible, please do your best to label items that will be served so that members of St. James (especially children) are aware. It is worth noting that handling nuts, snacks containing nuts creates a contaminant that cannot always be eliminated by hand sanitizer alone.

We want to make sure St. James is a safe place for all to attend and enjoy. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Pastor Andrew.
Barrington Day of Caring 2019
Join us for the second annual "Barrington Day of Caring"  on Monday October 14!
On Monday, October 14 people from all over our community will gather for a day of service that will include assisting local residents in need with projects that include: yard work, light carpentry, cleaning, and general service.  In addition, we send teams to several local areas to clean and beautify, including: Barrington Beach, the bike path, Latham Park, and others.  This is a great opportunity to serve people in need and come together as a community of care.
