Mission of the Month - September

Mission of the Month

KIND-Kids in Need of Defense is a unique organization providing care for children in need. KIND staff and their pro bono attorney partners at law firms, corporations, and law schools nationwide represent unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children in their deportation proceedings. KIND's mission is to ensure that no child stands in court alone. Please consider making a donation on any Sunday in September as we support KIND in their mission to care for some of the most vulnerable children in our world. Find out more at
Summer Mission of the Month Update:  Wrapping it up!

Our Summer Mission of the Month benefited Camp Calumet-our Lutheran Camp in New Hampshire. To date, we have raised just over $300. There is a $1,000 match available from the Janet Ramsey Calumet Scholarship Fund. If you have not yet made a contribution, please consider doing so soon-we would like to take advantage of these funds and send a generous contribution to our friends at Camp Calumet. Your contributions will make it possible for children to attend camp!
Roof Project Update
The roof project at St. James is complete. The roof on the entire building was replaced, along with new gutters, trim, chimney pointing, and renovations to the bell tower. This was a big project and we are thankful for the work of everyone from Roofing Doctor. The people of St. James had voted to allocate up to $95,000 for this. The final cost came in at a little over $69,000, well below our anticipated estimates. Many thanks to our Property Team, and especially to Dave Erickson for overseeing the entire project. Dave worked very hard to secure bids, provide updates, and was in frequent communication with the roofers as well as our staff, council, and teams. We are very grateful for all of his hard work in this successful project!
Loaves & Fishes RI Fundraiser

We Share Hope Yardsale Fundraiser

We Share Hope will hold a yard sale at St. James on Saturday, September 21.  It's a  sale of new items donated by local businesses.  Last year's sale raised a large amount of money for our friends and partners at WSH. You can support this event by stopping by to shop, or by volunteering to help with the sale. We will need volunteers to help on Saturday. For more information, see George Bowen or contact him at

Barrington Day of Caring 2019

Join us for the second annual "Barrington Day of Caring"  on Monday October 14!
On Monday, October 14 people from all over our community will gather for a day of service that will include assisting local residents in need with projects that include: yard work, light carpentry, cleaning, and general service.  In addition, we send teams to several local areas to clean and beautify, including: Barrington Beach, the bike path, Latham Park, and others.  This is a great opportunity to serve people in need and come together as a community of care.
