A NOTE FROM FATHER ROCK

Good morning, St. James the Less Family,

We are sending out the weekly email a day early because on Monday I tested positive for COVID-19. The line was faint on my test. I am fully vaccinated and double boosted, so I trust this will be a mild case. On Sunday, I sanitized before Eucharist, and after I received/before I served. I was wearing an N-95 mask. I did shake a few hands, so I feel the need for people to be informed. I had no symptoms Sunday morning, so I hope and trust that I was not contagious yesterday. If you are particularly vulnerable, look for signs and test.

We continue to remain vigilant, and I would, as always, appreciate your prayers. My family and I do not need anything, as they all had it a month ago.

I will continue to rest, and hopefully I will test negative before next Sunday.

Blessings,

Rock+

GRATITUDE OVERFLOWING

There are not enough “thank yous” for the appreciation we have for our Property Team. Many of you know we’ve had a water leak and AC repair this week and they have worked too many hours to count to make sure we are taken care of. Thank you (and our Junior Warden Bob Hughes) for ALL that you’ve done, seen and unseen, to make sure Saint James the Less is the incredible place it is!

CHURCH DIRECTORY

For those not able to get their picture made for the Church Directory, we still want to include you! We do have a make up day, Wednesday, June 29th from 2-8:30pm. If you would like to sign up for that, please click HERE. Click on "Photography Appointment Scheduling Login." Enter church code va139, and the church password is photos.

If that date doesn't work for you, you can email Kasey a current photo of you or your family by June 30th. We will make sure to get it in there. We want you to be included!

SHRINE MONT

We are thrilled to announce that we are taking our Parish Retreat to Shrine Mont on October 14-16, 2022. It is a restorative time for yourself and your family. It is also chocked full of community and faith building. We hope you can join us. There are multiple ways you can let us know you are planning on coming. You can fill out this online form HERE. You can call Kasey and have her sign you up at 804-798-6336. You can also sign up on the bulletin board in the hallway.

The cost is $75 for children (ages 4-12), $90 for teens (13-18), and $175 for adults (18 +).  If you would like to complete a Chenery grant request to help with the cost of your trip, please complete THIS form. We don’t want cost to hinder anyone from this awesome experience.

SUMMER MOVIES

Join us for some our summer movie line up! We have family films and movies for just the grownups. We will hold all movies indoors in Brydon Hall at 6pm, so come rain or shine. We will have popcorn, but you are more than welcome to bring food and drink from home to enjoy while you watch.

Family films:

  • July 1- Raya the Last Dragon
  • August 5- The Jungle Book (live action)

For the grownups:

  • July 15th- Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile
  • August 19- That Thing You Do

Meals for the Clinic Volunteers

As many of you know, Saint James the Less Free Clinic meets every Wednesday evening. It is staffed by some INCREDIBLE volunteers who care in remarkable ways for our community. We have the opportunity to provide meals for them. If you would like to bring food over for 8-10 people before clinic starts on a Wednesday evening, click HERE to choose your date. More information is listed on the website. We are grateful for your willingness!
Emergency Food Pantry

Right outside our Saint James the Less Free Clinic we have a food pantry. It is available 24/7 and used a great deal as immediate needs come up. Please donate non-perishables to this. It would be an incredible blessing to our community.

PRAYERS

Lord, we lift up this nation struggling with itself these days, reeling from this pandemic and its repercussions. Encourage us to faithfulness, righteousness, and compassion for all God’s Children. We lift up Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury, Michael, our Presiding Bishop, Susan and Jennifer, our Bishops, the Bishop Elect, Rev. Canon Mark Stevenson, Rock+ and Becky+, our priests. May they be strengthened and encouraged as the work with us to proclaim your Good News in this world. We pray for Joe, our President, Glenn, our Governor, and Steve, our Mayor, and all our elected officials. Guide them to lead us to the common good.

We ask your prayers for peace; for goodwill among nations; and for the well-being of all people. Remembering especially Gus Miller, Erin Yagla, Meredith Moon, Meghann Batten, Michael Fox, Bill Blakemore, Chambers Cromwell, Dennis Folsom, Carter, Paul Robb, Debra Bernard, Smith family, Alex Gillette, Pam Gillette, Sally Budd, Sarah Chamblee & family, Jeff Lawrence, May and family, Melanie Fischer, Court Warfield, Jane Howard, Pam Bowers, Rose & Mike Brown, Wendy Vaughan, Andrea Alexander McCallum, Matt & Megan Goff, Tom Ficklin, Betty Lee, Janet Taylor, Bower family, Sarah Sebastian, Curtis and family, Carolyn Moury, Sherry Gilmartin, Nicki Moon, Cameron & Camilla Sharma, Jessica and family, and Joy Stevenson.

We ask your prayers for the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison. We also ask your prayers for those serving in the diplomatic corps, the military, and as missionaries: Kemper Jones, Greg Ericksen, Matthew Thomas, Philip Morison, James Ashley, Andrew Brunson, Jordan Fox, and Katherine Murphy.

We ask your prayers for those who have died.

We ask your prayers for those who grieve.

We pray for health care in Metropolitan Richmond: For clinics, medical personnel, and all institutions that serve persons who are uninsured or underinsured. For a national health care system that promotes and encourages health, wellness, and well being for all people.

For all those who seek peace in the world and for ourselves, that we may bring about God's Kingdom here on earth. For our enemies, and for those who wish us harm.

Praise God for those in every generation in whom Christ has been honored.
