A NOTE FROM FATHER ROCK

Good morning, friends.

We are in the dog days of summer, and I hope you are staying cool and safe. Thanks to all those who enabled me to get away, and for all those who arranged for the reception sending Becky+ off with our blessings! It was good to be able to gather for a reception (it has been a while) and to celebrate her time with us. Below are instructions on how to give a gift for her purse if you would like.

This Sunday during our Contemplative Service, we remember the Transfiguration of the Christ (Observed). (The actual date is Saturday.) We will have a time of quiet reflection and prayer. I hope you can join us Sunday at 5 p.m.

For fun, the next of our Summer Movies is the live-action "The Jungle Book" for the whole family. Join us in the library at 6:30 Friday for a jungle-riffic good time.

Blessings,

Rock+

BACK TO SCHOOL

It’s hard to believe the school supplies are already back in the stores and we are talking about getting back to our fall rhythm. We are really looking forward to being back together with you and your family. A few things to note:

  • Mark your calendars for August 28th 5:30-6:30pm. We will have a Back to School Orientation (including popsicles!) here at the church to give you more information about our exciting curriculum this year. You can also drop off supplies.
  • If you would like to participate in the ministry by donating supplies from our Amazon wish list, please click the link and know we are grateful. It’s your support that makes this happen!

CONTEMPLATIVE SERVICE

Please join us Sunday evening at 5pm for our Contemplative Service. Contemplative Worship waits for God in the silence. It is an opportunity to be quiet and still in the midst of busyness, finding our spiritual center. It simply requires a desire to seek God and to be open to however God might choose to move within our lives. The theme this week is the Transfiguration of the Christ (Observed).

MOVIE NIGHT

Join us this Friday for- The Jungle Book (live action). We will be in the library at 6pm, so come rain or shine. We will have popcorn and "Jungle Juice" for this one, but you are more than welcome to bring food and drink from home to enjoy while you watch. We hope you will join us for this!

The Jungle Book is a 2016 American adventure drama film directed and produced by Jon Favreau, written by Justin Marks and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on Rudyard Kipling's eponymous collective works, the film is a live-action/CGI remake of Walt Disney's 1967 animated film of the same name. After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther Bagheera and free-spirited bear Baloo.
